qns on light panel/box

hi ... as i know that light panel are expensive ... and i mean damn expensive for brands such as GEPE ... but frankly speaking, is it really that worth to pay hundreds for just a light panel?

i know that many people would go for a DIY light panel, but does it really have the same effect as compare to a real light panel ?

Buy any 5000K light panel @ $60-85 will do. The size determines the cost. You don't need to spend too much on the light panel. If you want quality, spend more on a glass loupe instead.

Light box prices vary exponentially with size. The good ones are colour calibrated to 5000K and has the correct brightness for critical evaluation of slides. I use a Kaiser 5x7" one which costs about $100 I think. The very popular 4x5" ones are cheaper.

Of coz, the large ones are more convenient for looking at many slides at a time, or the entire slide sleeve page at a go, useful for editing.
