Qn on Premier Pro - Do i need a new computer?

Hi, I downloaded the trial of Premier Pro. I loaded a .avi clip into the program. I can see the image but the video doesnt move. It only shows the first frame. Is it something i didnt do?

When i use the trial version of Sony Vegas, everything works prefectly.

Can someone advice? Thanks.

one word: codec

premiere pro is very sensitive, its like a sports car can only take the highest grade fuel. if ur video codec got any problem then it cannot read, if it can read then it will most liekly not be able to export properly. i have been in ur situation before. u can either convert ur video to another format or try to restart your comp (sometimes can be due to bug in premiere). do note that the trial cannot read all the formats that the full version of premiere pro can, for eg it cant read HD mts files

lastly FREQUENTLY SAVE YOUR PROJECT!!! premiere pro crashes unexpectedly and without warning so take care
