Purchase with installment scheme ?

Confirm sure need to pay the 3%... no need to ask... cos 3% of $5000 is $150... that's a lot of money...

It would be better to pay by cash then.

Yupe definitely... but I need to queue at bank to draw $5000... can't take that from an ATM... quite annoying... haiz... and shops here don't accept personal cheques...

Just wondering... if I purchase a Nikon D700 that costs 4500sgd using the installment plan of 12 mos so 4500/12 = 375 a month (regardless if there is interest or not) the bank will only deduct 375 sgd every month on the card but need to have 4500sgd fund on the card before purchasing? :dunno:

Cheers!!! :D

don't know if debit cards(that also have the Mastercard/Visa logo) can do installments..

but if it's a credit card, then as long as your credit limit is $4500 or more, you can do the 0% installment. You do not have the physcial $4500 in the account, they will just charge $375 to your credit card every month

but if your total credit limit is only $4500, and you still have an outstanding bill(for eg $200), then your credit limit balance is only $4300 and you will not be able to do the credit card installment at the time of purchase

Gold or platinum cards have limits of between $7000 to $10,000... you could try applying for those. But remember, you must pay 3% on the card... it's quite a bit of money and so only the larger shops like Harvey Norman, will absorb the card charges.

To be precise, your credit limit for your account has gone down by $4500 in the bank's records.
The only difference is that they only bill you based on the instalment amount on a monthly basis interest free for the next 12 mths.:)

I do not think that there is a benchmark set for type of cards and the corresponding credit limit given by banks or set by MAS. As long as the basic criteria of $30,000 annual income is met, classic, gold & platinum are at the bank's discretion. Credit limit should also be dependent on the cardholders income and financial status/history. The total credit extended should not exceed 4 times your monthly income across all credit facilities in a single bank. Exceptions being, eg. annual income > $100k or prove of assets > $1 million(again at the individual bank's discretion).

Cheers:D

Do they even carry an A900?!

they do. saw a850/a900 at HV JP.

yup. SC offers 4x income.. so basically all their cards give at least 10k+ limit

You are right. But is there a difference in the price between paying the full amount thru credit card and thru credit card instalments? That i am not sure.

Cheers:)

I checked wif a nice guy at cathay photo today, no additional charges if using credit card for instalment :)

Yup... As you know, Cathay usually quotes you the lowest price they can offer... and they will gladly put it on credit card installment plan if you ask for it.
