Any suggestion on the location to set up our base? I am open to suggestions.

Yes, chalet would be ideal but it can be quite costly but the good thing is that we don't have to bring our tents, etc there. Less logistics to handle.

i just managed to borrow a 3-men tent....hehehee...

I have checked the price for booking of a chalet.

$202 for 4 persons

Additional headcount is $20 person.

$7 per person for ferry from Marina Country Club to Ubin.

Hi WuffRuff, nice meeting u at Sim Lim just now... ;)

USM

Besides having photography as a hobby, camping is my other hobby. Interested to join up but the dates not convenient for me. However, I have 2 tents (4 man and 6 man), many groundsheets and 2 hammocks which I will gladly lent if you guys need.

PM me if you wanna take up my offer.

6) initialE24 .. sounds interesting but is it confirmed?

at least u got one lor...:bsmilie:

i got to buy if i go....

No need to buy, just borrow unless you foresee that you will do more camping in the future.

IIRC, NTUC was selling 4 men tent for $16.90.
where are the permitted areas for camping?

Camping

Bring your tents and head out for beach campsites at Noordin, Mamam or the new Jelutong campsite. Try your hand at fishing, or gaze at the myriad stars of Ubin's night sky. Camping permits are not required and availability is on a first come first served basis. Upon reaching Ubin, do drop by the Information Kiosk and the ranger manning the counter would be able to advise you on some camping do and don'ts. Ubin is a natural area and to protect this environment, we do have guidelines for activities conducted here. Some of these include not allowing campfires, littering, tying ropes/tent lines to the trees or cutting their branches. Only Jelutong Campsite has facilities to accomodate a campfire. We also encourage campers to register their particulars with the local police post for ease of contact in case of emergencies. The police post is located right of the jetty when you disembark.

Info from National Parks Board website http://www.nparks.gov.sg/park38_1.asp

Works are ongoing at some sections of Mamam beach. These areas have been cordoned off but the rest of the beach is still open for use.
