Public Emergency Exercise

i don't understand how the ppl who are not living in the housing estates, or take buses or MRT going to learn how to survive during the emergency..... I meant since the gov't is doing such "tests" for the major public.... then what about ppl who don't take public transportation or don't stay in housing estate?

so those who don't get such opporunities.... well learn how to survive or learn how to die smiling.... :devil:

My bad, i didn't know it's just to test the cooperation between defense systems .....

There is a higher %age of people living in HDB areas than in private housing, so I think they choose to have the tests in public housing. Also, the amount of injuries sustained if a bomb exploded in public housing is much higher than that sustained if a bomb goes off in some private housing

Drop to their knees and pray for Lord's kindness?

just give some ideas what are these ppl supposed to do? like when the alarm is heard, where should they go? where is the nearest bomb shelter? :dunno: Who can be approached?

Save the majority.... heck care the minority?

Most, if not all schools have fire drills exercises every year.

Terrorism had never got any boundaries at all in the first place. Its only with 911 and the speed of light which information is transmitted these days that made us know this fact.

actually i think the best defense against terrorism is border security. prevent the terrorists and lethal weapons from getting in in the first place. unless there is some hardcore terrorist in our homeland brewing his own chemical weapons then its a different story...

Actually there are some very old pte estates whereby the houses are owned by the banks, that if the owners sold their houses, they will not have enough to pay off the loan or even have the money to buy a hdb flat. I don't think they can get out of the country, unless they have a sampan hidden somewhere.:sweat:

the government has actually set up websites on emergency related stuff. it's ironical tho.. the reaction of the people - some think it's a waste of time, wayang, impractical, ... some complained of neglect... and more will come...

i think sg government has done a good job of preparing for emergency, even tho many singaporeans always take the view that nothing will happen to us. at least they try.. whether these measures are practical or not remains to be seen, but I wont hope for a real disaster/emergency to test the government..

i think we are always too quick to criticise the government in any emergency, like in the case of SARs.. yet many complain when they have to participate in the drills...

i dont work for the government..in case you are wondering..

Just like to bring a bit of attention to the ppl who might want to have more information about things that are readily available to those who are living in public housing estates.
And available in the ways that are available to the public housing estates. nothing more or less. :dunno:

If you see the news today, they have declared the exercise a success and are now considering doing it again during the weekday peak period. Look out!

Since when they will declare any exercise unsucessful? The last time I was involved in a in-camp exercise, a squadron cocked up the exercise so badly, we still were told it was a success.
