The definition of a smart home is one of a fully automated place for living that would be operational and functional that makes navigation around the house simple. Loosely translated would be a house that has all the components fully integrated, and operating all the devices within the household could be by just a touch of the button. We are striving to achieve the perfect balance between a fully automated and intelligent house without all the hassle of technical aspects that usually come with it.
This far we have achieved, what we believe is a conducive environment that can be integratedinto households, that would reflect the cutting edge of what technology can offer, and yet without the general phobia of not being able to operate it and how it could disrupt their normal routine around the house. In time people would understand that instead of hindering their lifestyle, it actually compliments and accentuates it, with its simplicity and functionality. Click to enlarge pictures

How it will look when it is not concealed
The main feature of the smart home would be the Pronto. It is an intelligent remote control that has a library of a host of devices stored in the memory. If the device is not found on the Pronto, it can manually learn the device via infrared thru the remote control. There is no need to fear of the onboard memory for the Pronto as well, because it has a capacity from 32 Mb, the chances of filling up all its memory with controls of all the devices in your home is next to zero.
The Pronto is also unique in its ability to transmit infrared (IR), and Radio Frequency (RF) as well. This would open a new world of possibilities as the RF range is can penetrate obstructions in the way, like walls, ceilings and furniture. It is not limited to line of sight which the IR is restricted by. In this new age of minimalism, to have a remote control limited to line of sight would just not be feasible to the design and architecture of the home. Imagine trying to control a device on the second floor of your home; are you going to drill a hole in the ceiling just to reach a device on the second floor?
We have designed different set of macros that can control multiple devices all at the touch of a button. For instance, when you just come back from work, you just have to press one button and the lights, and the fan would be turned on. The blinds would open, and the radio would come on.
Thus the environment would have changed from an inactive home, to the full effect of the coziness of your own home. When you desire to watch a movie, the effects would be different as well. The blinds would come down, the lights would be dimmed, the TV would automatically go to the AV channel and the auxiliary would be turned on, as well as the DVD player. As this is fully customizable, the possibilities of each desired settings are endless.
This is of course fully optional, if the need to use the Pronto manually should arise; it would act like a remote control for the particular device. The plus point to this would be its just one remote control device controlling all the peripheral devices around the house.
There will never be a clutter of remote control all over your coffee table anymore. On a typical setting for a home entertainment system, would be around 4-5 remote controls, controlling various devices from the TV, to the DVD to the amplifier and hi-fi system. This would be a thing of the past with the ability of just one remote control taking over the clutter of the rest of the RC' s that is redundant. This is the new age of minimalism, remember?

But how will it look if you can hide it all

The finished product!
Our smart home provides security features as well. We have motion sensor detectors as well, if needed. This could be placed at the doorway, and the lights would come on, and if the occupant wishes to know who is at the doorway, they can turn on the TV to see the person from the cameras installed at the doorway as well. This has turned from a convenient feature for anyone to have the lights turned on so they will know they are expected, to a security feature for the occupants to see who it is outside. Now we have an even better feature to this, you can set an alarm at the house. If a burglar for instance would trigger it, the owner would be notified on phone directly, and what course of action is to be taken. If the owner is overseas, the alarm triggered can alert the neighbor or friends via telephone as well.
You can now even turn on house appliances or devices at your home via the telephone as well.
Let's say you're on the way home, and you can dial in to turn your water heater on first before you get back. This again is limited to the imagination; you can control the lights around your house when you are away, to project the image that someone is at home.
An alternative to that security feature is the time setting feature available on the Pronto. You can program the lights to be turned on at a specific hour as well. The time function feature is useful in other ways as well. You can time it to wake you up every morning as well. The radio would be turned on, the blinds opens, the water heater turned on. This again, I have to reiterate is only limited to the imagination. You can do countless many things with your home that you never thought possible before.
That is the explanation of a smart home. The integration of functionality and simplicity in today's growing age of technology is something to be taken advantage of. Gone were the days that if you do not know how to use it, you are automatically left behind. Now the need for consumers to learn how to operate and the usage is gone, well all except the basic knowledge of knowing how to press a button. As we like to say it, technology today is for those who just know how to press a button.
