Off set printing can be quite expensive.

Printing is dependent on paper stock also, sometimes the grain patterns of the paper can make or break your image. But we can discuss more about it at a later stage. I can get some quotes from my suppliers if this is taking off.

:D

I'm in the field of publication layout, i can contribute in terms of design and such.

i hope to submit some pictures to these if possible.
how do we contribute?

LIST IS FINAL FOR NOW (REFER TO FIRST POST)

I have not expected such a warm reception, and I'm spending my time asking folks for emails and names and mobile. This is not what the project is about :cry:. Anyway, I will not be adding folks in the list to meet, but will still open up the information for people to come. I presume some will drop off along the way, and we can add new members back in.

FIRST MEETING
Venue: My Place (Will send email)
Date: 8th November, Saturday
Time: 3pm

Cheers!

my submission for the book project committee's consideration, pls... :sweat:

great idea.... i shall get a copy when it's published... all the best guys...

Just an update on what was dicussed from the 9 folks that came. We will use this thread to continue to seek support for the project. Lots of conversations centered around quality, selection criteria, cost and even time to market. To summarize, the "book" will be strictly on RF, local content, and film/digital is fine. This much we agreed as a starting point.

Two folks (Charles/Nicholas) who were present had lots of experience contributing in terns of printing/publishing. Not to overburden any one person since this is an ECA, we can start with a thread to have themes to try out what the response is expected.

Anyone keen to start the thread with a theme?

The others can chime in please.......:thumbsup:

Just an opinion of mine, please bear with me.

When i think of RF cameras, i think of photographers such as Bresson, Gilden, Riboud or even Salgado. Perhaps the theme could be shots of everyday (urban)life in Singapore? I've always been intrigued by urban settings and how humans interact and shape these settings. The communicative function, whereby there is a constant negotiation between people and the urban and how this constant flux and shift can be captured on film to tell a story intrigues me the most.

To me these are the possible theme

As merelyok put it - Daily life of Singaporean
Vanishing Scene
Food (which was mentioned during the Sat. meeting)
Portrait
Still Life
Landscape
Sports
Events - for example Weddings
Interior
Architecture

Man the list goes on!

Everyone has his/her strong point..like for me .. I dun think I know how to shoot what I am going to eat..:bsmilie:

Feel free to fill in the what I missed out

From "Many Eyes, One Camera":
People=Portraiture
People in Places=People in Context/Environment
Animals=For the animal lovers:)
Places=Architecture & Landscape
Objects=Still Life etc

- bokeh
- 3d look
- colours
- b&w
- photos of your cameras
- anything goes

Appreciate all the feedback and the emails in the background. We will be having some "homework" to do for folks who have expressed interest. I think the bottom line is that we need to make sure we are all on the same page. We just need a theme among the many suggested here and and we have 30 days to do complete it.

My preference is this:

"(urban)life in Singapore? I've always been intrigued by urban settings and how humans interact and shape these settings. The communicative function, whereby there is a constant negotiation between people and the urban and how this constant flux and shift can be captured on film to tell a story intrigues me the most" as we can just go out and shoot.....

What do the rest think? We need one theme so that we can complete our homework.

Again, many thanks to Charles for circulating a very nice template for us to have some visuals. Works more than words for me :thumbsup:.

Other suggestions?
