[ Product Discussion ] - Olympus E-5 hand on _thought and sample pic

Off Topic : Had a little shocker when they mentioned the Panasonic G1 is selling (body only) for S$207.00.

Just got a call from my regular shop...

E5 street price S$2,250.00
Regulars pays about S$100 less.

Comes with 8GB Sandisk Class 6 SDHC card, and additional BLM-5 battery with charger.

You get a total of 2 batteries to work immediately with a HLD-4 battery grip.
They did a continuous test shot, managed 951 shots in jpg machine gunning. BLM-5. Told me no time to test with BLM-1, busy selling E5. Ha ha ha...

aah, poison!
u muz edit the post to exclude price.. :bsmilie:

It comes with a HLD-4 grip too?

Now it all boils down to you on how you can resist the temptation... ha ha ha...

Nope, just an additional BLM-5 battery for those who already have a HLD-4.

The package with the HLD-4 would probably be about 200 bucks more.

Hi clifford,

Do you know when will it officially be on sale? I would love to use it for an assignment end of the month..

Another 6 months will sell below $2k :)

I miss my E-3 but am enjoying film. Think ultimately one must be learn to be happy with what they have and getting used to the stuff, then the photos will come.

Learning the equipment you have is always the best way. I have seen so many equipment collectors who never have taken a good photo, despite spending way too much money. It's always "If I just had the [fill in the blank], I'd be able to handle that kind of shot amazingly well."

I wouldn't work with film again, except to scan negatives now but there is a certain peacefulness to using a manual SLR with a 50mm f/1.8 lens and Ilford HP5 black and white film that you develop yourself.

Its said later this month or early next month

Does Panasonic's DMC-G2 work that way?

Nope! LCD screen shuts down with the help of proximity sensor on the view finder :)

Same like iPhone and many other new phones with touch screens!

Is this shop in Singapore?

Tempting ;)

That would be sensible. Why would any engineer allow the touch screen to be manipulated while a face is in front of it and it's flush against the body?

they have the same implementation as Sony DSLT's (although Sony LCD is not touch screen) when viewing via EVF the LCD shut off and vice versa...

Nope. In China. The E5 are in some stores now. Don't know how that happened. But not in my city at the moment... so it will take a while before I can have a hands on. Maybe not... don't want to get poisoned. HAHAHA...

wow China is very fast :)

skali knock off one. hehehehe.

I don't think so. The shop I frequently buys stuff from are distributors of Olympus cameras. They are resourceful. And by the way, the majority of things on this planet are made in China. Most likely the mouse and keyboard that you are typing this reply on.

As mentioned in my post above. Body only.

I believe Singapore will bundle 14-54Mk II or 12-60mm with it. Check with your local dealers.
