awesome guide man! . . . bookmarked this page :D

thanks a lot for sharing man! . . . i collect diecasts and have started taking photos of them, but without my flash . . . now time to dust it off and retake them :D

glad u liked them.
do post yours too when you've taken them. :)

Waiting for more updates. :)

I like the "jump" shot! Mmm... need to find myself a figurine... my girlfriend can't be my model all the time...

Nice picture setup. I wanna try out mine in future. :D

I do find the first few picture flash power way too harsh, which is corrected in your 2nd post...
This thread is about flash photography right? :p

yea.. i suppose those soft images were caused by overexposure..
plus i found out that the flash will cause the plastic figurines to glow since the light can pass thru the plastic esp at thin parts..

I prefer to use natural lighting or external light source for them. ^_^

Envy..... 7D... :)
For Anime figuring, a PNS is good enough even for shots with bokeh. :D

(Getting my new flash today~!)

heys, can share how u shoot the 3D shots? v v interesting!

I agree to a large extent that.... just kidding, haha

dam nice lighting la

If I have to setup my lighting like that for my macro shots, the insect has to be either dead or it has to be a snail... lol

this reminds me... there have been cases where ppl do have nice lighting ~.~

from what i heard. they basically frozed their subject in the freezer :x

freezing spiders anyone?

im assuming u can view the 3D images properly and see the intended 3D effect?
cos i know some of my friends either couldn't keep their eyes crossed to view them, or they just couldn't lock the focus on the overlapping image after having their eyes crossed.

back to topic. basically, it is just the same figurine, same position, same lighting setup, but different viewpoints (ideally eye-width apart). the viewpoint on the left is the image to be viewed with the left eye, and the other to be viewed with the right eye. --> take an photo, then shift the camera slightly to the left or right, then take another one. works not only on such product shots, but anything that doesnt move. to take action shots in 3D, u just need to get 2 similar cameras, same lens, same settings, etc, position them side by side and trigger them simultaneously.

then putting the images side by side, with the one supposed to be viewed by the left eye on the right and vice versa. (this step is crucial since the method used to view the stereogram is the cross-eye method: right eye looking at the left image, and vice vicsa.)
If not, the depth information will be reversed.
