Yes I lock the grip....the thing is, it happens when it want to happen. When tested at home..it works...:dunno:

I do encounter such incident and power off/on will reset it, what dorts refer to could be the shutter lock at the grip.

Focus Drift. I am experiencing this with the E3, ie after a period of continuous shooting the E3 cant seem to get focus. At the start of a session it is OK, but as the shooting goes on, pictures start getting soft. Anyone having the same problem?

How intense is your 'period of continuous shooting'? How many shots over what time period?

Well have you experienced such focus drift yourself?

Well, since you're a bit shy to give details, I will start the ball rolling: I have so far shot up to about 500 shots in about 6 hours. That's the max usage rate I've subjected my E-3 to. No, no focus drift experienced.

OT a bit,

under Countinous shooting mode (MF+AF+C or AF +C )with the 11 zone focus, will any of the red squares light up?

just thinking.,

the sensor of the olympus camera are each equipped with a temperture sensor for minor adjustment, maybe that is causing the drift... as the temp will rise after prolong usage?

thats my suspicions but I am not sure ... want to hear whether others have detected/hypothesised/confirmed it so too.

Well said! My thinking as well.

The E-1 was very stable for a v1.0 product, except for the rare camera freeze with certain CF cards (probably card problem anyway).

Its a little disappointing to see all these issues with the E-3 considering they took so many years to develop it.

fortunately, i haven't bought the E3.. still using my ever reliable E1 and i'm still happy with its results..;)

anybody selling their E1? i'd probably buy another one!!:D

This is quite true. The E-1 CCD still yields better images at low ISO shooting. Keep the E-1 bro...

Still waiting for an ISO50-400 version of the E-3... :sticktong

oly should have use Kodak Sensors for the E3 ...

Would not make sense for them if they wanted to compete in the market for a high ISO, low noise model... that was one of the things that people were complaining about the Kodak sensor in the E-1 in the first place. Just that there are fans like me, who prefers film style look in my images. Everything is subjective I guess... NMOS has its charm too...

yup. guess doesnt really have a choice; due to competition for less noise at high ISO.. at the expense of banding...

Yup, the banding issue at high ISO... but that is what happens when the world demands for a special feature... we now have to live with it... for those in the smaller group who prefers the noise and "grains", film style, now we have to either hold on to the E-1 or buy the CCD equipped E-400 from overseas.

i still have my E300!

Some time ago, before the E-510 or E-3 was launched. Someone showed a japanese link website that shows the Olympus production facilities & factory production line in China... i tried to find but could not remember which thread. Looked thru all the threads but can't find. Can anyone show me the link again? Thank you.
