Problem with my 100mm Macro lens

one suggestion:
put a small piece of plastic sheet infront of the built-in flash to difuse the flash light.
the 100 macro USM has a groove on the front for the external hood..... get a small piece of PP or semi clear plastic sheet of 0.5mm or less thickness but firm enough not to warp easily (maybe 10 x 15 cm).
cut out a U shape the same diameter as the groove... it should fit snugly when inserted into the groove.
you can try using other methods like covering the sizes with aluminium foils to direct more light onto the difussion plastic or cover left half of the plastic so that the light appears to be coming only from the left side rather than straight on..... pretty fun experimenting (tried this with 50 macro before
