I used to use the F1000 with my old 717. No problems with battery. One set of batts can last quite long. That's why I am surprised that the F32X seems to drain batts so quickly.

Heard that F1000 is not a true TTL flash (need confirmation on this). And it does not have an AF assist. :dunno:

no TTL and no AF ?!! then it is fully manual ! ;( not worth for the price ...

singapore street price about $299 for new set.

Seems that the price had gone up, end of last year when I bought this cam, I managed to push it down to nearly S$250 in one of those shops in lucky plaza. Don't like to buy anything there though

The recommended retail prices has always been around $360. I think you are just lucky to get it so cheap. Perhaps the dealer got it as a parallel import, since accessories carry no warranty.

Does all the LEDs light up?? I tried 2 brand new F32x with the lens cap attached and both only light up the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th LEDs. And the 1st, 6th, 7th, and 8th LEDs are dim. Is that suppose to be normal??

I think there's nothng wrong with it. Your AF assist setting has not been set to full hence not all the lights were lighted when you try to focus. I believe on the top left button on the 32X by pressing it the 'high' indication will appear on the LCD screen. This will fully enable the full light ups of all the red LEDs.

For me, I deactivate all the AF assist. Normally, people do not feel comfortable with the AF red lights flashing at them prior a picture being taken.

another thing on F32X... what's the use of modelling light? afaik, modelling light is used on DSLR when u press the DoF button, purpose is to check for shadows on that particular f-stop. But since f828 don't have DoF preview, so what's the use of modelling light?

I also don't use the modelling flash at all. If I were to, it is to pretend to check for shadows I guess or to get people's attention.

Yes, it is redundant and utter waste of battery. No need to check, since digicams can always preview the results after each shot. No good? Take again.

Having said that, who doesn't want more features on a device?

I just received my 32X this evening. 1 thing to ask, i set the AF-illuminator to "high", but yet the last LED won't lit up, why??
