Hi guys, I cant seem to fix my canon ae1 lens onto the body, and I've seen many reviews/videos on how to do that. I positioned the red dot of the lens with the dot on the body and it fits, just that its stuck and couldn't turn clockwise to secure it. Any ideas and solutions? or that anywhere i can go to fix this? thanks!

THe Canon AE1 uses FD lenses. Meaning, that you put the lens in, and then turn the ring on the lens and not the lens itself.

Hi felixcat8888, i couldnt find any rings that i could rotate to make it secure, there're only rings for aperture and zooming purposes!

The silver/black part of the lens where it fixes to the body. Put them together and turn the ring behind the aperture ring ad you can then secure the lens to the body. The link will show you how to mount the breech-lock mount.

Yes, there's a silver ring (let's call this lock ring)near the mount. Just align the dot on the lens and on the camera then turn.
The newer FD lens version does not have a silver ring. Instead, they have a button/lock which you need to press then turn to lock.

In some cases, the lock ring was turned unintentionally. Although you need to press a pin in the mount before you could turn the lock ring, sometimes such things happen. Try to check if you can put the rear caps easily, if not, then your lock ring is in the wrong position

The "politically correct" term for the earlier FD series lens mount is known as breech-lock mount.:) Some of them are believed to be better than the new FD or FDn lenses (n denotes new) except for the red ring series aka "L" lenses.

Yes, this is a very good tip indeed (using the rear lens cap to align the chrome breech ring) for all Canon FD users.
