Hi,

I'm sending in my digitial photos for printing for the first time so not very sure of the procedure. Can i send in my photos in 1600 x 1200 and ask for fit in for 4R? Will the lab still do cropping to 3:2 ratio? I'm having 150+ pics quite tired to do the cropping for all of it...

if i m not wrong, they will ... or u will end up with white space on the sides. u will need to either crop them yourself or get them to crop for you.

Try to do a batch using photoshop. Don't ask me how for I don't know myself, still learning. Look under digital darkroom.

Ask the lab to 'fit in' your images. You might have to explain this term especially if the lab does not process the photos at its place.

However, like what renegade has said, that will leave white borders at the sides of the photos. As for me, I do not mind this.

Either ask for "Fit In" or go to a lab which has the proper 4:3 paper (they call it DI or something). Two labs which support this is Colour Lab Photo Finishing @ Adelphi and Beautiful Memories @ Stamford House.

Regards
CK

What's your rate for 3R, 4R, 8R, and Super 8R? How much extra for white borders? Do you do colour correction? What papers do you use?

If I'm not wrong:

1. Opening hours from 9/930am - 8pm (Weekdays), 7pm (Saturdays)

2. - Prices for Clubsnap members are: $0.25? (3R), $0.30 (4R), $3 (8R) and $5 (S8R).
- No extra charges for white borders.
- Color correction will be done unless specified otherwise.
- Fuji Crystal Archive Supreme paper

Try visualising the "cropping" effect and ask yourself whether do you like the cropped picture?
If not, then ask for fit-in. I cropped all my pictures before sending in as I prefer to have the control over which part to crop. :)

I crop mine too. Though it probably came with getting used to shooting with the extra bit of allowance for cropping away. :D

I'm not so if KT or any of the other advertised FDI labs here have the 4:3 setting. But Beautiful Memories does have it. And really, I believe that if we have enough demand for 6x4.5 size (as in regular flow of such a request, not a once-or-twice-in-blue-moon), labs like KT will be happy to accomodate.

My 2-cents.

i can't do cropping, will cut off some parts cause nv thot of allowance before shooting..think i haf to request for fit in.

If you cant do cropping I do recommend going to labs that allow printing at 4:3. Unless you dont mind the borders at the side tho, or printing them at 8R

If U dun wann a crop, & dun wan them to crop your pics, & u wanna print them as it is, the best way is to print 6R. 6" by 8". noneed to crop pics. & that solves all your problem!

How much is the border anyway? a few mm? 6R is too big already, dun need so big.
