prime lens 50mm vs. 28mm

If compare to 50mm FF SLR, isnt' the 28mm lens is a better choise for DSLR as compare to the 50mm lens on DSLR?

I think 28 gives you the slight better desired 50mm at the crop factor of 1.5

that's theoretically correct. also you have the consider the design of lens, and the output as well, such as bokeh and the minimum distance.

Lens hood good to have when shooting in direct sunlight or bright environment with strong lightings. The 50mm f1.4 comes with a detachable lens hood, the 50mm f1.7 comes with a built in lens hood that seems rather small.

it really depends, if u shoot for scenary and need wider angle then 28mm is the choice. but if u need it for potrait, 50mm will do and it is cheaper than the 28mm one.

i thought the hood actually build in for 50mm f1.7 and f1.4 version (at least mine has it). It is just slide out, but you got to turn the focussing ring and make sure you can hold the hood before sliding it out.

It is usefull if the sun is 90degree to you lens, nor for direct

You are both correct because there are at least 2 versions of the 50/1.4.
The restyled version uses a detachable hood, added circular aperture and has a 55mm filter dia.

Not sure if the bokeh is better with circular aperture... anyone has it and can take some pictures for it?

pardon me as i am not a techie... but there's definitely a diff...

i know your logic... a 28mm with 1.5x crop 'looks' like a 50mm on a film camera... but not true... the image taken frm a 28mm will still look wide-angle (or at least wider angle than a 50mm) even though it's been cropped... one can tell by looking at the photo. now the logic to this is.... (i dunno haha... i guess construction of lens)

After viewing the 50mm on a DSLR n a SLR, I still like SLR more. DSLR view don't satisfy me even I got the result to preview. I hope to afford a FF DSLR in the near future. Esp from KM!
