Prime Len

Cathay Photo are exp. Wonder why people buy from them? Good service? For just Nikon Primes 50mm, the price is $192

I just emailed SLR Revolution again.
Will check out John 3:16 later.

I had to wait for my 35/1.8 from SLR revolution, but the price was the best of the shops that I looked at, by a fair bit too... definitely cheaper than what most people are selling theirs for on the personal classifieds!

Just wanted to remind you again that prime lenses aren't for everyone, because of the fixed focal length. Some people find it annoying that there's no zoom.

No, it's not.. They will ask u to get from their authorised dealers instead..

hey folks sorry for the confusion...i did not buy directly from Nikon, i meant its an authorized sale with company warranty. Not a re-purchase from another folk.

:)

consider the nikon 35mm f1.8 DX lens.. heard good reviews from my friend who uses d90 as well

he said "portrait & candid"

you cant do both on 35mm & 50mm, try renting 85mm...just my imo and welcome to clubsnap! :D

Ha.

Thanks. So far so good. The lens is great. Fast, but my skill is not there yet, so photos are not as sharp yet.
Still experimenting.

I have tried both the 105mmDC and 85mm f1.4 on my older D80 before. lovely, just put abit more distance i betw. wider angle primes will give u abit more space to work with

1 advice, although you can use the largest aperture setting, try not to if you intend to achieve pin sharp images. Trying using atleast 2 stop smaller than the largest aperture.

Congrats on your purchase. Have fun with your prime :)

I love my 50mm f/1.8. It's very sharp, very fast focusing speed.

I brought it last month from Hong Kong (S$140).

should get one and try out... U will love prime lenses.

Which of the following 'prime' would you experienced folks recommend for someone getting a second prime? I'm currently using a 50/1.4 but am feeling restricted by it:

30mm vs 50mm vs 85mm

Thanks and happy CNY!
