Huh? I mean seriously... my current PC cannot handle the files? I am looking at the Phenom X4 from AMD and 4GB RAM on WinXP... would that do?

From what sense your current PC can't handle those files or actually the processing is as slow as snail?

I'd go for an Intel Core2Duo CPU rather as CS3 can utilized up to 2 cores CPUs only. Read here... Intel E8400 is a good bet.

Sorry for OT.

My response was to bro eow's comment that I should upgrade... so I was wondering why that is so given my current specs... I thought they should be adequate...

In any case, I am looking to do some upgrading nevertheless cos either my graphics card, monitor or motherboard is giving me some intermittent problems and I cannot isolate the fault. I was initially thinking of just changing the motherboard but I find that I cannot find a board now that takes my Athlon 64 Socket 745 CPU anymore, except for refurbished stock that offers the same functionality as my current board... so upgrading might be more worthwhile... and so in this consideration, I thought I would ask what type of loads would A900 images impose on a PC... if multi-core processors would help in handling these huge files, sometimes I open like 20 files at one go... I mean when you have 800 shots to process from a holiday, you don't want to even wait for the file to load into PS...
