hi, i just been offered Canon QL17 GIII for aroud SGD110.

is it overpriced?

thank you

I'll probably pay not more than $70 for one of those. Unless it had a recent CLA and everything looks pristine, it won't be worth more than $70 to me. Prices on these classic cams are very subjective and the tolerance levels vary greatly from buyer to buyer.

so its about USD 70, hmm gonna take a look first . . .

still, will alway try to bargain :D

SGD 70, where did the US$ come from?

what??? SG$???

hmm, two gentlement from here offer for 180 and 150, woaaaa

how come it's expensive?

any store in SG sell this lil gem? or have a broad range of RF?

If mint, grab at $70 sing. I have seen the insides of these.
A lot of work manufacturing it.
Nowadays fancy hamburger can cost $110.
China girl hostess at fancy ktv may sniff at a tip of $50 and say so little you keep it for yourself. So you figure out the value of $.

thank you guys, youre so helpfull.

im a bit lost for the price

again, thanks a lot

search buy and sell for the next best thing :)

even from previous record the price ranged is so unbelievable

some sale at only $50 but the recent one sell it for $180

duuh

Like I said, there's quite a large price variance. The market for such cameras isn't that large here so prices aren't set in stone. In the US where trades of such cameras are more common, there are defined price levels which most transactions will adhere to. But even at a premium, US sales of this camera are never conducted beyond the SGD 70-90 range. I really wouldn't pay more than SGD 100 over here. As a guide, I sold my broken down Canonet for $20 not too long ago.

ues, that right, i saw your sale thread too.

about price, i have done some research too. and thats why i'm suprised that it can be so high here and in malay, whereas in other neighbouring country the price is still low.

thank you terrence, hey, are you the same terrence in the RFF? the one from SG MY region?

Agree that no fixed price. And no fixed quality either.
You could have paid little and got a fantastic unit or paid a lot and got a lemon.

I have paid US$30+ to US$40+ (~S$70+) for the GIII before from eBay and the camera isn't as good as described -- got problem but too bad no returns. Best is buy from someone you know (or reputable) or you can see and try out the camera before buying. Not worth spending extra money to do the CLA. As we may not be using film so often.

BTW - if I am not wrong, your broken Canonet is the first Canonet made in 1961. 2 million of those were made. A working one can be got for around US$10. I got mine for lesser -- AU$10. :)

uhm, i'm gonna use film a when got one, partner it with good scanner, voilaaa!!

finally got someone who will search it for me in the cameras motherland. hope there is a result.
