i think the d100 has a few more features than s2. correct me if i'm wrong. but no firewire is reason enough not to get it. i hate waiting. if i were u would wait for version 2 when they put it in.
compared to d100...
sRGB only in RAW mode
Flash sync 1/125 as compared to 1/180 for d100
2fps and not 3fps
d100 has more white balance settings
EV 0.5 step compared to 0.3
no mirror lock up

Should be Adobe RGB only in RAW mode.

Moreover, I don't think firewire is so important for most of us, who do not use S2 for studio usage. To transfer files from momery card to your PC, you can buy a firewire card reader if you hate to wait.

The reason I prefer S2 is the quality of pictures out of camera. For D100, you might need to do a lot of post jobs to adjust the pictures.

Ardis you got the words right out of my mouth. Yeah its the image quality i am after. :) Thanks

Actually, as some of you may already know. I am very new to photography. Really need some help here. Can someone explain to me wats this thing about Adobe RGB thingy? :D Thanks and appreciated. :)

Would love and yearn to own a Digital SLR. Although with my F90X , its already quite suffice to produce some good pic, but nevertheless, still hope can afford a DSLR. :)

One more thing for those deciding between D100 and S2 Pro - the latter can use the regular SBxx flashes, and does not require the DX series flashes.

erm, that means you can use any camera... oh sorry were you being sarcastic? :D

As already mentioned, the Image Quality of the S2 is proving to be a bit better...

Yer right about the D100 having Adobe RGB option for jpeg mode.
Flash sync is not quite that easy. you have to keep in mind that the S2 has ISO 100 at 1/125th. The D100 is 1/180th at ISO 200. No longer an advantage for the D100 (see http://www.bythom.com/s2d100.htm)
As for the Frames per Second, the D100 shoots 'Up to' 3fps, depending on condition and mode this will drop. The S2 shoots a guarantee'd 2fps. FPS should not be the only measure though, what about buffer. In JPG mode both camera's will shoot 7 frames into the buffer, however if you shoot RAW (or TIFF) the D100 drops to 4 (or is it 3?) frames in the buffer, the S2 will still get 7 shots.
Yes the D100 has more White balance settings and you need to use them. The Auto White balance of the S2 is very very accurate, not need for so many options.
Cannot argue the 1/2 Step EV as compared to the 1/3 step EV for the D100. If you need 1/3 step then it may point you in a direction, however I think most people will be just fine with the 1/2 step. As a note if you do shoot raw you get 1/3 steps in your conversion.
No mirror lockup on the S2.. This maybe important to you and your type of photography. Most the time a few bean bags will absorb any vibrations..

Did I mention that the S2 has better images and more resolution out of Camera ;-)

Anyways.. They are both great camara's. The features are a wash. With some +'s and -'s for both. Image quality sold me...

Oh, then that makes your choice harder or easier, depending on which way you look at it. Harder, coz you now got 2 choices. Easier, coz you can just pick anyone.

But why stop there? Go for the ultimate - D1X/H. :)
