Hi Blackice,
I quite like the CP775 myself. It is really one of the very few, early PnS cams with decent pictures, and has a real nice grip, quite unlike the other PnS cameras.
Anyway, 2 things to be done before any photographic acquisitions. Always do you homework. Read and read until you know why you are getting a particular cam, and not another similar cam.
Read with knowing what kind of pictures you want to take e.g. family photos, friends, people etc, or landscapes, buildings, scenery etc. Different cams treat skintones differently. Or some cams have terrible barrel and pincushion distortions that make them utterly unuseable to take buildings and landscapes.
The second thing is to get equotes from the various stores. MS Color, AP, and CP e.g. I am quite sure that equote prices are generally cheaper than if you were to walk in cold and buy.
Sometimes going with a knowledgeable friend helps too, but you have to make the buying decision yourself.
