Price increase coming in Film

(moderators: not sure if this belongs in dark room or in Rangefinder, since not all RF film users use a darkroom, and there are more film users here in RF than digital users)

Just saw a message from my favorite online film place, freestyle. That they are going or have raised the prices of Kodak and Ilford films. It is interesting that right now, despite my best attempt at beating the prices at ruby, the shipping simply not competitive enough. Sure I am cheaper but not by much.

I am barely doing under $4 for 135 format, while Ruby is around 4.5 - $6. For 120 format, the price differential is even narrower.

a 20% increase in feb.

What if you bought Arista Premium 100/400? These are Plus-X and Tri-X respectively, just reboxed and rebranded.

This is due to increase in silver prices. But a rep from Ilford said they wont be increasing the films prices if possible. Hopefully the prices dont fluctuate too much.

:(, it's a bit biase to say the most film user uses rf...

main point: should i stock up more? Guess it is good excuse for me to stock 2 more 100 feet :p. Hopefully shanghai 100 doesn't goes up because i only order 1 pack from my source :( Maybe someday when ruby stock gets too limited due to high cost, we might need to open a film mo in non profit section...

At current fx rate, it would be about $3.80 per roll after shipping, that is if I were to order 100 rolls. Doesnt make much sense for a low volume shooter like myself. However, I notice Ruby's prices are not consistent (or they might have increased the prices) either. Maybe one solution is to have someone carry them back.

Oh dear, I hope Ruby won't raise prices too, otherwise I'm going to have to stock up. Unless it's expired film, I've not found the cost of buying online much better than what we get locally if we are talking about tri-x, t-max and some of the colour film.

I am more worry about the choice of film as increase in price might means ruby bringing lesser type of film.

If anybody wants to mass order... count me in.

Ruby seem to increase the prices every now and then. I've tried stocking up, but ended up with lots of film and no time to shoot! ;p

OT a bit... what is the lowest price for 35mm velvia 50 and 100 in sg? Is it possible to get it shipped online at a lower price even in smaller quantities?

Cos what I see at BH or Adorama is that the cheapest shipping is by courier which is expensive for smaller quantities.
