Many thanks!

IIRC, $3.9k should be grey... The pricing for this model has come down substantially in the US market but remains the same here... Sometimes, just duno what to say about these camera dealers in Singapore...

Oversaes increases, Singapore increases.
Overseas decreases, Singapore remains.

:bsmilie:

I never buy new canon DSLR products locally ;)

hong kong seems like a good place to get it..

maybe can double confirm with him, from past experience, i remember oracle sells local warrantied sets for body and international warranty for lens..

It was S$3950 in BKK with thai warranty.

I'm juz waiting to see if the rumoured FF from Canon is going to be launched in Apr. Comparing the specs, if its good, I might jump ship :bsmilie: :bsmilie: :bsmilie:

Quote from CP was $5K 2 weeks ago.

Generally i like the images of canon bodies due to better noise control though primarily using nikon.. decided to take both ships, slowly building up on L lens now :bsmilie:

Haha I simply cannot afford to do that... too much costs if I were to get 2 bodies and flash for each ship.

..seriously looking at 5D, price quoted so far is above 4.6K.....hope to make decision in the next week, what's the best full wrrantied price currently?

have you'all confirmed whether oracle's price is grey set or warrantied set?

If there is a new DSLR, it could well start at $6k... the 5D reached $7k when launched, though it was initially priced at $6.7k.

The key question is then... if you wait till April07, by the time it arrives in the shops is May07... if you then feel that its price (S$6k?) is too high... and you may want to wait till some basic production and firmware bugs are ironed out, it will be Nov07. Then, if you decide the price is still too high... it may be 2008 before you're ready to buy... and by then, there will be the talk of another new FF DSLR.

How many pics would you have not taken between now and the next 18months?

If the 5D is affordable at <$4k... you should just buy it ... by the time the next model is affordable at or below $4k, it will be 1.5yrs later already...

I would think $4.6k should be ok. I gave up after waiting a year ... and just bought TCW's own warranty set for $4.2k. At that time, the local set was $4.9k ... I figure worst to worst... I have $700 for repairs in the first year...
though if its major, I'd just take it back to TCW.

Its not just about the number of pictures taken... Jumping ship means I have got to change my entire fleet of lens. Even if it means when the new FF is here in May 07 and price is too high, I might just get the 5D then and I believed price will drop slightly then (brand new), or perhaps from the B&S who those whom are looking for an upgrade. The 2 prime lens I am eyeing from Canon is already $5k. :bsmilie: :bsmilie: :bsmilie:

Its a commitment that I've got to seriously consider.
