i dont see any vignetting using a low profile filter on the sigma 10-20mm.
however i do see vignetting appearing at 10mm if you use the cokin p system wide angle holder... adjusting to 11mm should solve the problem.

By getting more vignetting from the filter holder because of the wider angle of the lens? :dunno:

Have you rotate the cokin filter holder another way like hood? This may solve the vignetting problem.

Recently bought the Tokina 12-24DX pro. And was wondering what filter system would work with this. any suggestions? Normal budgetary constraints do apply of course.
Cheers.;)

Just asking, I have Nikon DX 10.5mm and DX 18-200VR on the wide side. Which Lens is better to me? Sigma DC 10-20mm HSM or Tokina DX 12-24 Pro? Most of my photo will be print between A4 to A3+ size. From most review out there Sigma and Tokina have no problem at A4 except A3 Tokina will be better as most review stated Tokina is sharper. But Sigma is better flare resistance. So which range better suit me?

I'm using the Sigma with my 18-200, just feel that the range complement each other better and more significantly, the Sigma gives an extra 2mm wider, which is the whole point of getting an ultra wide lens in the first place.

With regards to sharpness, both were pretty similar from the samples I tested in the shop..might be sample variations, but the Sigma I got was just slightly sharper than the Tokina at 100% crops, but would be almost impossible to tell with A4 prints, unless you're printing A3 size all day long.

How about prime lens 20mm or 24mm for D200? I was just thinking though it may not be that wide after going through the DX sensor...

How is its AF speed and hits when using corner(not centre sensor) focusing? From PBase site, I found Tokina 12-24 has more sharper photo than Sigma 10-20. But when Sigma is sharp, mostly HDR, it looks very good.

just want to share that TOKINA AF 12-24mm F4 is now selling at $740-$760 non-grey in reputable shops..

flipping good time to get one?
sigma 10-20mm price still steady.

I just got myself a Tokina AF 12-24mm DX Pro at that price range. I first thought of getting Sigma 10-20 also at that price range too but not sure if they are grey set.

I'm also looking for a wide angle, still torn between Sigma & Tokina, just checked prices at OP, last few day, quoted SGD 735 with international warranty, which mean both model now quite the same price.

Which one should i buy?

Thanks in advance.

Tokina 12-24mm at around +- $750 is non-grey due to their current promotion. and also tokina wants to fight greymarket.
Sigma 10-20mm should be $860-$890.. prices of $730+ is confirmed grey.

my understanding is Sigma "international warranty" (grey) wont be accepted by Sigma Singapore, despite being "international warranty"

i would defintely go for the 12-24mm f4 but it varies between users because of the type of photography they are into

How about the Sigma 12-24mm? based on www.photozone.de test, it seems the Sigma 12-24 is sharper than Sigma 10-20mm.

if ur looking for a CPL get 1 with only 1 element or the nikon 1. both kinds prevent the horrible vignetting u get from using an 'ordinary' CPL

can you use the tokina 12-24 as your all around lens... wide, portrait and normal photo..???? hehe.. I am planning to buy a d80kit and start with tokina 12-24

money not a problem? Nikon AF 14mm f/2.8D-ED
money is a problem? Tokina 12-24

agree with you! ;) even ken rockwell concedes that at 14mm, the new 14-24mm has visible distortion but not the 14mm. beat that!

I compared the Tokina and Sigma at the shop and found Sigma sharper all around. That is what I ended up with. Been using it and loving it.

Hmmm.... I wouldn't ... I feel an 18 -55/70/200 range is more usable as an all around lens..
I only use 12-24 a small % of the time..

Me own a Tokina 12 -24. Use it most of the time together with 50mm f1.8
