Mentioned it here as the newspaper thinks otherwise and good enough to put on their newspaper whole front page, instead of just a small column inside the newspaper.
On second thought, the reporter may be wanting to highlight something. What you see in this case depends on your own point of view. We all have our prejudices.
e.g.
a. how desperate the PRC lady was, to get a fast track into the good life and hopes of being a taitai overnight.
b. how foreigners come to Singapore with fixated intentions, misconceptions of Singapore and serious plans to grab whatever they can.
c. how ignorant she was of local economics. If a person just make a few grand$ with a family to look after, not so easy to own private property.
d. how unaware she was of what the competition can offer. From the photo, she looks obese. She is not aware how much better looking and younger the competition are, that can be found at certain lorongs in Singapore.
e. there is also a remote possibility that this is "manufactured" news. i.e. that the whole thing is a set up and the lady told to do this, so there is something quirky to write about, to sell newspapers.
