PowerShot S90! users.. Come In!!

Hi all S90 users.....

my GF just got her S90 today.....

so i thinking to order the grip..... (Richard Franiec's Custom S90 Grip-> google it to get more info).

So.... anyone wanna join??? i can do MO...
until now i limit up to 2 person more (since i just email them, about the limit i could get for the same charge if i order 1 grip only; so if they allow more order i will add more space) . so u pay the price and + shipping cost (we will split the shipping cost equally...)

the Grip cost: USD 32.95-> payment by paypal currency rate will follow Paypal

PM me if u interested (1st come, 1st serve):D

Bro, i did an MO before... you can ship up to 5 pcs per shipment.

Guys, you really won't regret getting this grip. i feel more confident holding the S90 with just one hand and leaving the other hand free(which means, i won't put in where the @$*! flash is when it pops up)...

support!

Just wanna ask is the rear dial of S90 is a problem? like when taking picture than unintentional dial rotation and button presses???
cause i found a store that sale a 'ring' that could solve this problem....
the price for this 'ring' is USD 4.95, Is the worth to get it?
btw, if many people wanna order the 'ring'; i might be able to arrange MO for the 'ring'
to view the 'ring' product: http://www.lensmateonline.com/store/S90ControlDial.php

Ok guys.... the MO for the grip close....

btw found out the rear dial is an issue to some S90 users....
did u guys have the same problem?
i found an solution for that issue....
might do another MO for this 'ring'
the 'ring' cost about USD 5, if a lot of people interested i arrange the MO...

i PMed CS forummers on this thread who expressed interest in doing an MO (NOT startrails). No picture no sound. :ipuke: good luck in your MO

Proceeded to get it myself direct. The grip is very good, finish is excellent. well worth the price.

the ring thing, not so. my take is just get the grip first.

ok la some of them did respond.. we all ended up sharing the shipping cost. comes up to about 48 sing dollars per person @ the exchange rate of that time...

The ring thingy.. i suggest try using the method posted earlier (something about prying the thing and stuffing with paper) before jumping into it..

or u can just use the rear dial to control your aperture rather than your EV... i mean, that's what i do cuz i use AV most of the time.. yup

bro, not you la. I am talking about other forummers who said 'l will organize MO, anyone interested?' after yours closed.

lensmate is very efficient, order is packed small and light, and arrives within promised time. so for about say S$10 difference it may be easier to just order individual instead of waiting for MO to close, payment to be made, arrange for pick up, etc.

I have the ring and find the clearance between it and the scroll wheel is too small - instead of preventing accidental movement it just prevents movement, period. And it makes you feel like you have fat fingers. LOL. also, with the grip, how you hold the camera will be different, my view is that in itself reduces chance of accidental movement.

Hi all s90 user......
anyone interested to get s90 grip??? i did an MO before...
but one of the CS that interested to purchase it wanna cancel...
so i got 1 more extra....
if u interested u can contact me by PM

NOTE: Found another buyer already.... Thx all

Hi, am new here. I m actually looking at S90 & Lumix LX3, anyone can roughly tell me the diff? My basic use is to take my 22 mth old son. My Canon Ixus 95 photos always comes up blur! Thanks!

I tried to look for ads under marketplace but seems like nobody selling their s90?

S90 and LX3, if start debating will never end. The main difference is in the noise reductions.

22months old quite active. Get a 550D or (50D or 7D if can afford) with kit lens and a simple external flash good enough. S90 not fast enough for kids who are screaming and running.

Hi thanks for your reply! I am actually lookin for compact cam & range around $600+. Is your recommendation around that range? Thanks!

S90 around that range. 550D isn't. But compacts can never be fast enough for the little ones. Ever consider Samsung TL500? large aperture f1.8 to 2.4...

Remember to get a quote over the phone/email and note down the exact name of the person giving that quote. Take note of any free goodies as well. I felt like getting cheated at Alan Photo (Funan) because I did not note down the person's name over the phone. Went down and an auntie quoted me a slightly higher price (+$20). But then didn't wish to waste time getting quotes all over the town.

hi all,

enquired about an extra battery for the S90 today...was $69 from Challenger...

worth to pay or a 3rd party battery be good enough?

Hi there,

Get the 3rd party battery. I got mine from SLR Revo @ Funan, around 10 bucks, working fine and does last quite long on single charge.

Dpreview and Google are your best friends. (there really should be an automated response to these kinda questions).

On another note...the long awaited successor to the Panasonic LX3, LX5 has been announced recently. Would be interesting to see how it matches up to S90.

Dear All

I have been looking around for a P&S for my travelling instead of hugging my Sony 550 around, beside weight also the moment you wipe out China man will starred aaaaaat you or got sold before.

So looking at Fuji F200EXR, F70EXR and of course our CANON S90. I would like to thanks all of you who had discussed and contributed in this thread such as where to buy and price guide etc..

After reading this thread for 6 hours w/o missing any, I decided to my for myself a S90 and it was a good choice that I made considering the after sales service at Canon located at Vivo rather than Fuji somewhere far away that I had been to since I staying at the western side.

Good quality of the body: Love it once I touched it not so plastic toy like the other.

I would also like to share the latest price as of today:
1. Song Bros (SLS) @ 620
2. Challengar (FN) @ 688
3. South Asia (FN) @ 699

I bought mine from SLR @ 616 without screen protector only a stupid canon case but I bought 2 pcs of third party batt @ $6 each and seller told me that it can shoot up to 200 shots.

When to Jurong point and have my screen protector fix at $8.90 .
Also according to thread, I have online ordered the Custom Grip www.mycanong7.com @ USD 37.45 including freight .

Now, I need help from S90 users to tell me where can I purchase a proper Lanyard.
Thanks in advance.

Peter

616 sounds like a very good price to me considering the launch rrp is 749... the 6 bucks battery which i am also using for sure last much much longer than the canon original battery.. i am using the 6 bucks battery as my main battery and the original batt as the spare battery.. enjoy the cam... remember to off the safety AE if u r taking fast moving subject in low light... lots of setting in this cam.. even after months of using.. i am still discovering... lol...
