I saw another model of the camera case at Canon Vivocity. Selling at $39 if I din remember wrongly.

I think I saw that too - but the 'Canon' wording on that is a metallic stick-on. Trying to get a case where the surfaces are flat and won't scratch anything else in my wife's handbag. :D
(yea, we're those people who keep keys in key pouches/holders)

could someone pls advise on how to utilise the RAW format for S90? I've no idea how to import the RAW files for editing.

Install the Canon DPP (Digital Photo Professional) software that comes with the package. You should be able to access and view the RAW files format using it, and also use it to do editing to the RAW pics.

Hi, I'm actually very surprised by this. Most (and if I may say, all) memory cards now come formatted. I've never had to format a card before using with any cam. The only time I format a card is to clear all the old data when it's full to start afresh.

Because even though most cameras would use a standard directory structure, camera manufacturers might differ from these standards. Meaning, u might not be able to save or read the card correctly. So, when popping in a new card, always format with the camera as this will make the card most compatible with the camera read/write format.

It is also better to format before use as, if u erase photos/videos in camera, over time, the card will become fragmented, like our harddisk. This can also give rise to read/write problems.

but i think he's talking about a brand new card

I'm also talking about new cards. You should always format cards in the camera before use regardless of new or used cards to ensure maximum compatibility.
It's just a few seconds to format the card in-camera. Why not do it?

it is still better to format even with new cards..

I've formatted both my SD cards from Canon, the moment I open the cards, before using them to take pictures..

& yes, you need to do it in your camera.. not format using notebook / PC using card reader..

I was playing around with my S90 movie mode recently, recording my child playing, running and screaming around the house and during playback, the clip play nicely but there was no sound. I checked through the manual but i dun find any mention of having to do additional setting to turn on/off sound during movie record. Any S90 user experience the same thing?

when u are reviewing a clip, after u press [SET], u'll encounter a row of buttons with 'play', 'slow-mo' etc. there's a vertical rectangular bar right at the end. press 'Up' and u should begin to see this bar fill up with orange-coloured bars - these indicate playback volume.

try it :D

conversely, go to [MENU] and under the 3rd column, u should see "MUTE" - turn it off and u'll hear sound during playback by default.

hope these help :D
