hi everybody this is caleb here. Honestly own an s3 but i do not know what difference does the is do for your pics? And how do you turn it on? I'm relatively new

Cheers

It's called Image Stabilization, and is detailed extensively online on the Canon website and in your manual.

Under Menu, the default setting should be IS Mode "Continuous". You can turn it off if you want.

Trying to take some pictures at long zoom with IS on/off and you will understand what it does. Basically, it helps to keep your camera steady.

Hi all,

How do you all pp your photo? Which software you all using...

Very impress in all of yours pp... Any website tutorials recommend?

Thanks

Most people here use Adobe Photoshop. Tutorials are all over the forum and online.

It basically helps to reduce camera shake. This will allow you to take sharp pictures at slower shutter speeds even just hand-held.

For example, on my Sony H1, if i switch off the anti-shake, I can take a sharp, hand-held picture at 1/30th of a second or faster. With anti-shake, I can take a sharp picture at 1/8th of a second. The results from your Canon should be about the same.

Also please note that your question shouldn't be in the S3 IS thread, but more in the general "newbies" thread. :)

You can go to "Function" and set the picture size to "S", which is VGA 640 x 480. In this way, all your pictures taken will be small and there is no further need to re-size them.

However, I wonder why you want to do this. The "correct" way is to take the high resolution pictures that you have been doing, and download them to your PC as you have done. These hi-res pictures are necessary if you want to print the pictures. The reduced size pictures are good for the computer monitor but not good for printing.

To reduce multiple hi-res pictures on your PC, one way is to select all of them under Windows Explorer, then choose email the pictures. A box will crop up to ask if you want to reduce the pictures. Choose yes, then save all the attachments somewhere.

Thanks .. the last pt is very helpful, and I managed to change all the files to smaller size, and save in another folder while keeping e original one for future printing.
