Wow!! I missed out so much by not loggin in for sometime........after I started this thread, I saw little response and I thought most Canon users here are DSLR lovers only......

Till today I see the Canon Ad in the newspaper than I know it's launched......should come in here earlier!!

So can I conclude that $760 with 512mb card is the best deal now?? Anyone knows how much is S2 selling now?

Or anyone interested to Mass Order? Or we make an arrangement to meet in one of the shops and bargain together and pay individually, so no need to make payment arrangement!

I dun think I will wait for the Computer Show.......my son will be due in 3 weeks and may come anytime......so I think on amount of saving can justify loosing the precious moment of my son's arrival......heheheh. So I may buy in a few days time.

The S3 has just been launched in Singapore. Judging by past experience with the S1 & S2, the market price will drop only when the Canon list price drops, which is not likely to be soon. In fact, when the promo ends at the end of May, you may not even get your free 512MB Card. I also recall a time when the S2 or S2 ran out of stock during the initial period and the price actually went up a little. So, if you like the camera, there is little point in waiting.

Until last week, I had the S1. I now have the S3. The S1 was an excellent camera, and I can also assume the S3 must be an improvement. If you have neither the S1 nor S2, you cannot go wrong with the S3. I simply love the camera. However, if you already have the S2, I am not sure if the few extra features justify the upgrade.

Referring to S3, usuallythe package comes with more "freebies' during the PC show, but the price may also be higher...

Shop and price of various items purchased by me already posted in this thread. (Read above messages)

Upgrading the free 512MB to 1 or 2GB card is not worth it. You are better off keeping the free card and buying the 1 or 2GB card separately.

$750 appears to be a good price. Just make sure you do not fall into any of the following traps:

1. The GST Trap - You confirm buying the camera but at the cashier, the shop adds 5% on top of $750. Our price of $760 is inclusive of GST.

2. The Accessories Trap - You buy the camera at $10 cheaper but end up paying $20 more in accessories' (i.e. batteries, charger, case etc) prices.

3. The Different Package Trap - Your set does not include warranty or something that is standard in our packages.

4.The Switch Product Trap - This is the worst. You have done your research on specs and price, and settled on the Canon S3. The shop gives you a very, very good price on the S3, leading you to believe that their prices are really good. Then they convince you to buy another much "better" camera and you end up buying something which you regret the moment you reach home, and at a price that is not good at all.

Btw, price quoted by MS color... any free gifts? GST?
