Taken during my third trip to St.Marco Square in Venice.

venice-summary.jpg

I took this photo to symbolize/summarize my feeling throughout each of my trip to Venice:

Bell tower on right: Was focusing on such tourist spots during the first visit.
Flying pigeon: Free and easy during second trip.
Grabbing hand: To grab something that I missed after both my visits.

Let me share mine. THis shot was taken while travelling in the Grampians in Victoria, Australia. It looks like a reflection on water of branches due to the orientation of the tree and its shadows. Pretty typical of reflection and sillhouette images. Not really worth a second look

However on closer inspection one may notice the other trees in the bottom and realize that it is not a reflection. It starts to feel disorienting as one's convention of a typical picture is challenged. In fact this is a fallen tree that happened to be propped up by others, suspended in the air, and the darkness is because of forest fire. It is a shot lacking in punch that many will not warrant more than a passing glance, but of which deeper observation and understanding may reveal more to those who gave it more time.

I like this shot because it constantly reminds me to be patient and look beyond face value, and there is always more to learn even after we thought we knew something.

Hi, guys, good to see many good works, but do remember the purpose of the threads to have a showcase of good works + unique (not that often seen) compositions.

REUTERS/Jonathan Ernst

The above shot done by Jonathan Ernst is made by using wide angle lens which make near subject appear big and distant subject appear small, taken from a low vantage. there is excellent use of scale of sizes. it makes the helicopter looks almost like a toy remote

I agree with u...

there is a small trend of street photographer here tapping the aesthetic of the billboard artist and contrasting against the live subject. with an intelligent framing and patience/shear luck of suitable contrasting live subject of a suitable color of clothing or contrasting even his/her identity with the contents of the bill board, interesting effects can be derived, perhaps inexhaustible. there is possibility of exaggerating scale without using close distance wide angle, and half the job is already done by the unnamed brilliant billboard artists.

REUTERS/Jim Hollander

i like this the most. but the rest of the series are excellent too.
