ya...i agree too...sometime photos like portrait dun have to be well saturated .
desat it may actually bring out the "feel"

Yup..i agree.. its a matter of taste..
sometimes.. artist might want bright and colourful tones... and sometimes.. the artist might want a desaturated tone... or B&W... all these shots are nice in their different own way.

by the way..i like your first two images.. they are good.

Looks like she has got big arms in the last shot. Perhaps some scarf can be used to wrap around the arms to try and disguise it.

from what i think, its not really big arms. if you have noticed, if a person poses and presses the arm on the body, it will make the arm to be bigger in a way...

Comments from a viewer only..

(1) It lacks emotion. The high-key would be nice if she can express joy. Or a slight hint of a smile that can also be seen in the eye. Since its high-key, I would use a little flash to add sparkle in the eyes. Maybe try another shot with and without flash, and bring a jokebook or something to add emotion in it.

(2) I love the color and her bandana (? not sure what its called) is lovely... but since she is looking out and cannot see eyes, only her lips show emotion... maybe a more red lipstick to match the bandana? And a bid of sadness would add a tenseness on the lips... or just show more eyes would also be nicer (imho).

(3) I don't know how to comment. I like the fall of hair... lovely hair.

The eyes. A person who is emotionally drained is usually unaware of his/her environment. Ask the model to focus her eyes behind you and slight lower than eye level as if she is looking right through your body. Any expression would be in the line of the mouth/lips and jaw.

actually you can avoid fat arms by asking her not to press the arm against herself. jsut lift it a little. naturally everyone will jsut rest arm against body, jsut be consious to advise her when you see it. i mean during a photo shoot la. daily life would be a real chore to do that all the time
