im used to lightstands topple .. problem solved when i used 2.9m heavy duty stands..

er, just curious...does the salt matter? here I tot salt will suck up more moisture which is good in a way?

Actually as far as I'm aware people use stones/pebbles instead of sands. Can also use camera bag if your tripod does not need weighing down.

heavy duty stands will also topple. I had one topple at Marina barrage once... forgot to bring my sandbags that day and paid the price of a bent shoot through umbrella...
Really need to have a couple of sandbags handy when shooting outdoors.
