same here...i rather go for 1 big improvement,... then a lesser one... to me... the Mks... are more of the "pro" range.... crop factor of a 1.3x is reali good compared to 1.6x then...again... price is problem too... if prices is good... i will definately go for a MK a the near future...! lets just kepp our fingers cross!

Agree...

I personally felt that changing from 10D to a 20D is like changing from a Toyota Altis to a Subaru WRX. Some improvements but not much. However jumping into a BMW/Merz/Posh (1DMKII/1Ds) is a real upgrade.

My 2 cents.... :D

With that, it would give you a '1' series... so far I know only '1' series except the 1Ds will have 1.3x crop factor...

I know ......but put in short what I trying to said is......

The 20D looks fantastic, but it's not a compelling upgrade for 10D owners.

The improvements in focussing are well received, but the crop factor remains at 1.6x, and that is what ruins it for me. I don't need more megapixels; I need my wide angle lenses to act as such.

bruther....why not get sigma 12-24... quite solid mah that lens.... but the front elements thingy abt that len turns me off....i`m worried i would spoil the lens....thats the reason why i hesitate to buy it...

I have the 10D. Yes, I bitch about the slooooowwww start-up time, the sometimes cranky AF, slow CF write speed, "tiny" buffer of only 9 frames, the initial "blurry" screen when playback images, and all of its other idiosyncracies. And you know what? I still love it to bits. :D

20D? Nah, think I'll give it a pass. 1D MK2 looks like a much, much better choice, and my next upgrade will be that.

so many ppl aiming for the 1 series, i hope canon makes a third tier pro series (aka EOS3) on the digital body, that what i aim for, 1DmkII prices are a certain turn off!

Have to wait for Nikons to match Canon's offerings.... heard that D200, DSX..etc are coming out next year.

Also, other manufacturers are joining in the fray

Other than features... I'm sure they also compete in price point... else, price difference between bodies may cause people to switch sides.

The 20D will make a good backup for those using the 1 series when they need a lighter body. It has a faster frame rate than the 1Ds and higher resolution than the 1D; it also has better high ISO performance than either of them. For a 1DMkII owner though, there's not that much reason to pick up a 20D.

i'd probably pick one up if the price settles around 2.5k.
