I would say Nikkor 10-24mm based on the 2.4X zoom.....for ease of use. Tamron has less than positive review so far, so I really wonder how nikkor perform. Otherwise it would be tokina 11-16mm.

10-24mm is in the lead now. Whoa I didn't realise that it is already in the shops!!

The Nikon will probably be pretty expensive. More than the 12-24 I would think (but that one may come down in price once the new one is available). I had the Sigma and now own the Tokina and I am very happy with it. I also like that it is constant f/2.8.

the 10-24 has great range, but for the things i cover, the F2.8 is almost a necessity...
so my vote is for the toki 116 F2.8

Mind your words!!

Prime lens aka Fixed Focal Length Lens, and
You are asking for WIDE ANGLE LENS, not WIDE ANGLE ZOOM LENSES or WIDE ANGLE VARIOUS FOCAL LENGTH LENSES.

So WIDE ANGLE LENS is actually referring to WIDE ANGLE PRIME LENS.

aspenx's question is NOT a stupid question. you owe him a apology.

That shows how ignorant the TS is. And where's the apology to aspenx? I did not see it.

eh.. maybe my subject was contradicting.. my apologies if i did not state clearly on whether it is about wide angle prime lens OR wide angle zoom lens..

however anyone can see from my poll from the 6 lenses that all of them are wide angle zoom lens..

hope that clarify something..

Yes, it is your fault for not stating it clearly. But your reaction to aspenx's about the stupidity of his question is totally uncalled for. No matter what you say in the reply, you still owe aspenx an apology.

ehhh? back to UWA lens discussion?

Read many positive reviews and samples on Toki 11-16, so my choice would be that.

Was thinking of getting the toki 11-16 as my last lens(i hope!), am still depending on my tammy 17-50 for the WA shot.
With the new UWA lens by nikkor will there be a price drop of other UWA Lens?

God(Marketing & Sales team) bless the consumers with a price drop!!

There will be hope for a price drop for other UWA lenses if the new UWA lens from Nikon is cheap and good. If it is expensive and average, God bless IMHO.

do u often shoot in low light to justify the fast aperture?

why are u so concerned about i apologise or not?

the discussion here is about WA lens.. not whether i apologise or kneel down or whatsoever..

i dun want to start a fire here.. so let just end all these and concentrate on the topic of the thread..

hope price will not only drop for UWA lens, but for all Nikkor lenses as well..

i believe we are all hoping for some relief from Nikon in this downturn..

One more vote for the Tokina 11-16mm...

anyone know d street price for Nikkor 10-24mm ???

toki 11-16 f2.8 sound good. IQ & low light...but.. 5mm zoom range very limited.
10/12 - 24mm sound more reasonable and versatile as a walk about ultra wide. :)

If you ever want to consider Toki 12-24f4, i got the DXII version from MS last week for $760 w GST

hi,

to those who have went to tried out the new Nikkor 10-24mm : anyone comments on the sharpness,CA and distortion as compared to the rest of the 3 party ultra wide zooms??..

Hi, any comments on the IQ of Nikkor 10-24mm?

The Tokina 11-16mm (equivalent to 18-26mm on Canon, and 17-24mm on Nikon) offers slightly more than 5mm zoom range on a DX body. It's about 8mm for Canon and 7mm for Nikon. Having that little zoom range also allows the Tokina to perform "like" a fast prime, considering it has a constant f2.8.

Vote for Toki 116 f2.8.

The least distortion of all UWA & easiest to nuetralise the distortion.

I got the BBB virus from this thread hence went to HK to got myself the ATX116 for abt S$800 & B&W filter $90:D

Now I need to sell my 3 wks old ATX124:think:
