Polaroid Gathering! Anyone? :)

i dun think asking money for a gathering would attract more people to come ...
anywayz i would suggest instead of giving away money as a prize for the competition.. you can try giving away either a polaroid cam or a twin pack to the winner....

Ha ha ha.. just gathering of cause not need money. I can even buy you coffee if you want! :bsmilie:
Gathering and walk about taking pictures with DSLR. With DSLR are easy and
NO need to buy films. Just take pictures everywhere. 100 -200 pictures also can.
35mm slr or med format and rangefinder will be a BIG event if you are talking about competition.
And it might not be a one day events. Not like polaroid polaroid take instant pictures.
It will be much easy for the judges and people who take part of this competition.
As we all know polaroid 600 film are not cheap every shoots count.
That is why i think off starting a polaroid competition sound more fun
and so much more constructive. I will take in your idea. Sound good to me. :thumbsup:

What i am doing here is getting everyone to move around taking pictures also
but at the end of the day you still have some prize bring back.
It will be so boring just to sit around and do nothing and do not have much thing to talk about. Right?
Maybe, later if everyone know each and everyone better.
We can do a gathering and show off your new toys and talk
other cameras as will. What you think?

So, this is more like a Gathering + Competition.


invisibl3, If you can say we could give away a twin pack of 600film or a polaroid camera.
This will cost $$$ as well too. Right? Where to find $$$?
That is why i say $10 each and $8 for students. And
all the money will go to the prize for the competition on that day!
Nothing, is yet confirm $10 and $8 is just what i think to start with.
If you have other ideas? Let say $8 and $5 that's sound be good to me too? :thumbsup:

Take this as a 'gentle' reminder.

You guys can still have fun in an outing with any competition or prizes. Look at the infrared photography community, they never collected any $$ for their outings. Whats more important is to meet like-minded people, make friends.

Nothing to do with profit or even involve anything! NOT even
promoting company, branding or label to earn profit out of it.
Just doing it out of fun and my interest in polaroid.
And to make the outing much more interesting and constructive to do.
I came out this idea to do a mini competition. And a competition without some prizes
sound a bit funny right? With some prizes to win sound much more interesting to do!
I give a example here! To teach your pet tricks if they do well and listen to you and do
what you told them to do. What u will do? Reward them give them treats or path them sayang them. Right?
(Ha ha! :bsmilie: sound like we are some pets here) Same go to us here!
Winning some prizes is just a plus! Just want to get everyone to give 100% for this mini competition.
And to award the best pictures a prizes and a job well done to the winner who won this competition.
And of cause meeting new people and make new friends who share the same interest are equality important too.

Some photography community do not collect $$$.
Yes, i believe that there is a few community that dun collect $$$ from people on their outing.

some parties. we also always hear of photo competitions, using film or digital, and hounded
by those with their big expensive shiny prizes cameras. BUT we seldom hear of
competitions specially for POLAROID.

So great idea Xavier. You know, i think the best way for this to happen is for someone,
maybe someone rich, or a rich man's son haha, can sponsor the prize. Like you said either twin pack 600 or polaroid cam. Coz if no sponsor, and cannot take entry money, then how
to have competition like that?

If it happens, count me in man!
