The race of a lifetime at Singapore Changi Airport.

Changi GP Festival to showcase not-to-be-missed race between Porsche and Boeing 747 Singapore Changi Airport is revving up for the Changi GP Festival in September.

Airport visitors can look forward to a month of race-related activities starting with the Changi Airport Race – the first-ever jetliner versus car race in Asia. The race on 5 September 2009 will pitch a Porsche Carrera Cup race car against a Boeing 747 aircraft from Singapore carrier, Jett8 Airlines, to determine the speed king of the tarmac.

Two hundred grandstand tickets are up for grabs for fans who wish to hear and experience the race up close on the tarmac of Changi Airport. Members of the public who spend a minimum of $30 in a single receipt in the public areas of Terminals 1, 2 or 3 from 15 August to 23 August 2009 will qualify for a lucky draw to win a pair of tickets. Besides the grandstand tickets, another 500 tickets will be available for an exclusive live screening of the race at the public area of Terminal 3. Ticket holders will also be invited to enjoy the festivities at the airport on the race day.

Chief Executive Officer of Changi Airport Group, Mr Lee Seow Hiang said, “Changi Airport Group is proud to host this race of a lifetime, the first-ever between a jetliner and a car in Asia. There will be lots of buzz and excitement at Changi Airport with the Changi GP Festival. We invite everyone to join us as we celebrate the Singapore GP season.”

The Porsche car taking part in the race will be on display at Terminal 3’s Departure Hall for a week from 19 August to 26 August. On race day, Porsche will launch its new Porsche 911 GT3 at Changi Airport.

Allowing their only aircraft (9V-JEB "Shogun") to be used in a publicity stunt, a sign of sheer desperation on the part of Jett8?

Not to mention the merchandise sold around the public areas are exorbitantly overpriced, perhaps you can purchase your daily or weekly groceries from NTUC FairPrice in the basement of terminal 1 instead. ;p

Thanks for they heads up. :D
They should have made an effort to drop by in Singapore since they happened to be on the way.

No worries bro.

You've to ask your sources who was the one who say tak boleh.

Therefore, have to go to Boleh, TUDM Subang, Malaysia FTW.

Damn those blood sucking bureaucratic scholars from CAAS whom are more concerned about the cleanliness of their toilet bowls, as far as aerospace and aviation air show is concern Bolehland always have the larger share of the pie ranging from Red Arrows appearances during LIMA to even a 50 aircraft flypast during their RMAF/TUDM 2008 open house.

If only CAAS was as proactive as the Malaysian is the aspect of organising and promoting aerospace and aviation air show.

I happened to saw Xtemujin's thread through google search asking for directions to TUDM Subang AFB in the PhotoMalaysia forums, he should be going I believed.

oh... anybody else? wondering if driving up for a day trip will be possible?

Hopefully, I'm able to go as it's not everyday that you get the USAF Thunderbirds to head down to Asia, instead of going to USA.

However, transport to TUDM Subang is another issue as I don't drive.

Sad to say that Singapore is becoming a place of tak boleh.

Looking forward to LIMA 2009 Langkawi, Malaysia, and hopefully able to get some good shots of the MIG29N before they close shop.

Why not? It's during a weekend, right?

Have you considered travelling with Firefly, they fly direct to Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport (AKA Subang Airport) from Singapore Changi Airport, RMAF/TUDM Subang AFB shares the same runway and is practically a doorstep away. ;)
