need help in IDing these pipefishes (2 n 3 are the same), esp no. 1....

paiseh, as usual, lousy shots, and the head not in focus... :sweat: still trying to learn from siaoon how to get it right..

they're pretty tiny.. the bluey orange one is still not too bad... the banded one is harder.. couldnt really see it in my LCD too :rolleyes:

The first photo should be the Janss' Pipefish (Doryrhamphus janssi).

for extra info... thats the same brown banded pipefish i saw at jack rocks... hell lotsa them... !!! too bad that time no cameras.. :(

hmm.. janss's pipefish.. so its belong to the hovering pipefish category...
interesting.. so is it always in 2( orange/blue) colours or normally in orange??

the photos i saw in fishbase seems to be in single colour wor..
 

can I ask if the pictures are taken using underwater white balancing method?

hi the 1st pic is the cleaner pipefish (Doryhamphus janssi)

hello .. no ... i used cloudy white balance.. gd or no gd??

orh, using internal strobe lar
btw, those using manual white balance, dun use flash huh...else all red color pics... lol

Those that you internal flash can reach will become to red, the side will be just nice.

Actually yours still OK lor.... I had seen worst. I am refering to those that use manual white balancing.

One way to try.
Set your camera to tungsten white balance, shoot in a hotel or rest will have very nice and natural colour... without flash that is. If you start to use flash, your pictures will become very greenish blue.
