Another set of SEL 35mm f1.8 taken inside the coach to HK Airport some sunset shots :-) Process this a bit and crop to bring out the true colors of that day (these does not come from RAW file all JPEG, I shoot JPEG while on tour to save memory space so NR all done by NEX7) :-) Used spot focus AWB and A-Mode again Auto ISO also shot @ f8

Came across a rare bulbul who not only didn't flee at the sight of my 180, but chirped away in contented bulbul fashion as I shot. The bird's blithe spirit reminded me of a point made in another thread by bro Anthony earlier today: how lucky we are to have this hobby and also to have a place where we can share our experiences and learn from the experiences of others.

One person's "spherical aberration" can indeed be another person's "glow." I generally try to make good use of the strengths of my gear rather than griping about its weaknesses. And thanks to bro Thoth, I've been reminded that what may at first appear to be a limitation can actually be turned into a possibility. Thanks to all here who give me the opportunity to learn.

Glad u bought d 35-1.8 to extend yr existing NEX gears. At this point. It makes no sense for u to move away from NEX systems. Haha. Happy shooting bro. Cheers.

so far I only have three AF native e-mount lenses Sigma 19, SEL 18-55 and SEL 35 the rest still legacy MF lenses so still open to move around any mirrorless systems :-). But so far as I use more NEX-7 it feels like it's just getting better or should I say I am begining to adjust to it and start to maximize the system.

Few more sample shots of SEL35/1.8 @ Mongkok all taken wide open :-) OOC JPEG just touch a bit of the WB to get the correct tones

I don't see any aberration in this photo nomatter how hard I tried. A Leica APO lens is truly amazing. Nice catch and very well focused. You must have been pretty close.

The spherical aberration reference was about the "glow" thing mentioned earlier in the thread. The photo is cropped at about 45% and IIRC, I was probably around 10 meters from the bulbul. 100% magnification is much more detailed, but too large to post here. Both the 100 and 180 are amazing--consistent contrast and sharpness across the frame from f/2.8 to f/11.

Just for fun . . . a cantankerous Mr. Koel grabbing a snack . . .

NEX-7 with 180mm APO + 2X, cropped at about 80% . . .
