Heh quiet as we are all busy enjoying shooting pictures with our camera . Looking at them through Lightroom .

NEX-7 with Vario-Elmarit-R 1:4/35-70

Landscape isn't my strong suit, but I enjoy giving it a go . . . f/5.6, minimal cropping . . .

Same lens, "macro" mode . . . goes to 1:2.8 . . . obviously not as good as the APO, but eminently decent for a normal zoom!
Cropped at about 60%.

Nice rendering. I believe this is different from the f3.5 version which was made by Minolta. Is it a one or 2 touch zoom. Thanks.

This is a later model, 2-touch, Leica design, but manufactured by Kyocera (Japan). Build quality seems exactly the same as German-manufactured Leicas. I've never seen a zoom as sharp and free of CA in the corners as this one is.

bro nothing to worry I was reading about Leica and those made by Minolta that even if those were made by Minolta it was almost redo by Leica and 85% lens where rejected actually... dunno if this site is true but I guess even if Leica OEM some of its lens to 3rd party they still need to pass Leica QC :-) and specs

That's pretty much the same as I've read elsewhere . . . R glass is R glass, no matter where it's made. There was also at least one instance I read about in which they used a Minolta design but substituted their own (better-quality) glass. And they eventually designed replacements for both the 35-70mm 3.5 and 70-210mm Minolta glass, markedly improving on the older designs.

A few from today . . . again with the NEX-7 and Vario-Elmarit-R 1:4/35-70 . . .

"Macro" mode, cropped at about 50% . . .

"Macro" mode at MFD (1:2.8), 100% crop, to illustrate what the lens can/can't do . . .

And a 100% crop with the 180 APO and 2X . . . lunchtime! :D

Thanks for your reply. Truly great lens and wonderful color. Reminds me of my former R Elmarit 28f2.8 E55 ver. I tried the f3.5 version before and didn't like it. And I forgot to ask whether it's a parfocal lens.

It seems to generally stay in focus as the focal length is changed. I never noticed how precise it is, though, as I use both peaking and focus magnification on every shot with this lens.

Thanks once again. From your description, it should be. Should be good for video then.

Just did some shooting and I see that the lens is definitely not parfocal. Apologies for posting a mistaken impression previously.

NEX-7 with 100mm f/2.8 APO-Macro-Elmarit-R . . .

Spot metering at . . . f/8, I think . . . cropped at about 50% . . .

This little fellow decided he wanted a taste of one of the flowers I happened to be shooting . . . cropped at around 80%

Yup, that's my fat silhouette reflected in his eye . . .
