Pictures from NEX 7, Thread I

NEX-7, LA-EA1, Minolta 200mm f/2.8 HS APO, all shot at f/4. #1 cropped at about 25% magnification, #2 at about 45%, #3 at about 80%.

This camera is incredible. Even at ISO400 I can get jpegs that are both clean enough and detailed enough to crop at 100% magnification if I need to. Sony really got it right with this one. :thumbsup:

Set to Auto ISO. Then play around with the shutter speed or aperture.
(Correct me if im wrong)

do you realise that indoor shooting, even i use ISO 400 and 2.8 (wider app i have), the speed still quite slow, never be able to get at least 1/250!! so blurry image once my kids move a bit!

the speed is 2~3 step slower than normal DSLR?

There are no known problems of the metering in the camera, but then, I only use M mode.
And using 1/250 is pretty fast for indoor (assuming a normal fluorescent lighted room) . At ISO 400 and only at 2.8, it is not surprising that the meter assigned you a slow speed.

I normally shoot pictures of my kit too with my 24-70mm at f2.8. Typically with indoor lighting, I use ISO800 (still quite clean with low noise) or ISO 1600. I try my best not to go to ISO3200 as using stronger noise reduction in LR tends to kill a lot of details.

Shutter speed is normally 100-125. Do keep in mind at depending on your focal length, f2.8 can have a very shallow depth of field and if you aren't careful, your kid may sudden shift out of focus plane.

Anyway, I use my 24mm f1.8 and the 50mm OSS f1.8 a lot for indoor night shots as f1.8 is significantly brighter than f2.8

- Tripod unstable

Are you using tripod ? Did you turn off lens stablisation when doing long exposures on tripod ?

Hi Brothers, below are the pictures :

ISO : 100
Aperture : F14
Shutter Speed : 25 sec

ISO : 400
Aperture : F8
Shutter Speed : 0.5 sec

ISO : 400
Aperture : F8
Shutter Speed : 1 sec

All taken with tripod, remote control at focal length 18mm manual focus. Stabilization is set to "OFF" no doubt confirmation from the Sony lecturer it does not matter.

These pictures are Raw using CS5 to save as JPG with no PP.
If you zoom in 100%, you will noticed that the structure of the building is not that sharp or is my expectation too high.

No UV filter but with lens hood.

thanks bros for comment on the indoor shooting. I just got my sigma 30mm price incresed nearly 20% and will post some pic.

BUT hor, NEX 7 is same as A77 right? how come the picture is not as good vs some bros post here with their A77?
