Pictures from Nex-5N

Vivid mode all the way. All photos OOC with regards to colours and sharpening.. actually everything except the vignetting which I applied to quite a number just for effect.

Woah thanks man! :D

It's amazing to join this.......... NEXes of EVIL bahahahaha :x

Dun be bluffed. These pictures had been cropped/resize and picture size is quite small to tell IQ... if he post larger say 1024 pixel than we can better judge....

the pictures look plenty good and sharp to me. what are you looking for specifically in terms of IQ? high iso noise/banding?

Ah no worries. The photoset I loaded onto flickr are all at 1024. Please view there if you'd like (:

Lovely pictures .. makes me wanna get the 5-n even more now.. =)

Welcome to Flickr!

A newbie's experience with the NEX-5N :) please let me know how may I improve (most pictures are cropped cos e lens doesnt allow me to zoom much)! :)

different occasion calls for different lens. cropping doesnt always work especially when you want to isolate the subject with shallow DOF

example this:

I think the stock lens is not long enough for zoo, a 55-210mm e-mount with AF should work better..

if you are talking about my pic, no that was not using nex cam, it was shot using a d90 with 80-200/2.8 @200mm wide open 1/60s handheld.
it was posted just to show an example on the shallow dof to isolate a subject, it may also have some handshaking too as i was shooting way below suggested speed. i have not brought the nex-5n to the zoo so i cant possibly post a good example with the nex cam.

sorry if it is not sharp enough or the dof is too shallow for you. but im not someone who likes to sharpen pictures as it induces noise so sharpness is all camera's default.

however, if you want to see something sharp out from nex-5n, here is one ooc that i think is too sharp, at least for me

nicely done.. is this natural light or using flash? if you are using flash, what flash are you using for the nex?
done with nex5n with nikkor 50mm 1.4 wide open, filled with light from the led.

NEX 5N with new Sony 30mm E-Mount Macro that I bought for $310. All autofocus

It started to rain this afternoon, so I pulled out the hvl-f20s flash. I haven't been able to get my Metz Ring Flash to work with the NEX. The f20s had the 12mm diffuser on and was usable with the 30mm f3.5 Macro lens but light is not perfectly diffused. Overall 5N+30mm Macro+HVL-F20S is quite usable for a small light setup.

Taking a front shot of a jumping spider with a 30mm lens in the dark is no mean feat. I was amazed the 5N managed to focus in almost zero light. It takes its time to focus though.
