I agree on this...its good for scenery and macro...nature lovers will love this cam to go with on their expeditions.. but for portraits,it isnt gonna score in this region. Possible reason could be the face detection range is much shorter compared to other PnS/Prosumers cause of the short focusing range...so u need to take pretty close portraits to have face detection ON den the picture looks better..

but den again, it has good low light capability...Guess u cant have the best of both worlds..

Anyone tried the nostalgic settings share by Tom Hoots from Dpreview forum?

Flash should be use when shooting in lowlight condition. My guess is u are using High ISO...I got a friend shoot out door portrait with a wireless flash result very nice..

yoz... whats the difference between DCR 250 and the 202???excel glsi

i get better results for focusing on face and portrait when not using portrait mode. maybe under portrait mode the sharpening is minus?

i used the nostalgic settings from Tom Hoots in Dpreview forum, raising contrast two steps, saturation one step, and then lower the noise reduction two steps but sharpening is untouched(0)....issit ok to share ur portrait settings pls? :)

hi guys,,

does this lx-3 takes good portraits of human beside studio shoots?
i personally tried taking it at cathay photoshop and result is pretty bad.

i use IA mode in a very brightly lit place so i felt its real disappointing

any comments on this? as i am very interested to buy this awesome cam.

shouldn't you use the P mode instead for better results ?
in IA mode, if i'm not wrong the ISO can cap at a default value at iso 400, or is it the P mode?

this picture looks nice on the LCD but gloomy on pc

nothing better to do so took this picture from my window through the glass.

newbie here so still trying to figure out how to take a nice picture under different conditions

your first and second pics the colors very vibrant but when I take pics mine not so vibrant. can share your Settings?

i use the dynamic settings for both the colour and b&w shots.. :)

couldn't resist posting.. SASUKE!! haha... nice bokkeh (nt sure of the spelling) there~
yeah, i noticed that pictures on LX3 tend to look a little darker when it's transferred to the PC. That's why i like to overexpose my images a little bit.

Edit to update with a photo

Really love LX3's black and white dynamic mode =)
