well it should be the timing. Being reading up on photography, read somewhere that some of the best time to get good lighting for a night shoot is around sunset timing to before the sky is totally dark. Reason so is since it is not that dark yet, the night lighting effect is there but it is more gentle compared to if it is totally dark, also since the sky is not totally dark yet, you may get a very nice contrast background if the sky just looks good that day.

So I was in the area shooting around 4pm, took a rest for dinner then walked around that area taking photos of other stuff until i felt that the lighting looks good. Pity that i did not have a tripod, it would have made photo much better.

Love the LX3... but still learning how to use its functions... :embrass:

The temple shot by Fireemblem is very nice. Just curious if it was shot in iA mode? If I want the lady walking in front and some others too, to also be sharp while they are still in motion, what would the correct settings be as I always prefer everything to be sharp. Any information is most appreciated as I'll be attending the upcoming Chingay and I'll be shooting with lots of performers walking and running around in the night. I'll probably use the LX3 for HD video and my G1 (45-200mm) for still shots.

Thanks, but nope it is not taken in iA mode.Taken in apperture piority mode. F2.5, ISO200, 1/1.6 shutter speed. The picture is straight out of the camera, no post processing done.

Anyway for your case, you should be taking in shutter piority mode, try at least 1/500 shutter speed, but good luck to you since it is in the low light nite condition. ISO800 maybe the min you have to use. Thou i wonder why you will even use your G1 when the LX-3 is a much better camera....

LX3......... back from the future

I don't think the max 60mm is long enough. Last year, with the 12-60 SWD on my E3, I still can't zoom in to certain performer. Should have brought my 70-300mm. Anyway, I'll try the LX3 first and if it's ok, I'll stick to it. Still not too sure if I should still fix the WA lens (18mm) or just use default 24-60mm. Thanks for advise.

sharing some pics taken at Chinatown yest....saw alot shooters...probably CS-ers but didnt c any LX3 bros

FYI G1 image quality is better than EOS 450D when shot in RAW. http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/panasonicdmcg1/page30.asp. G1 camera is not a DSLR but represents the future of photography. A lens of 45-200 (equiv 90-400), is the shortest and most compact anywhere in the world. Perfect for those who don't want to carry heavy glass. Fast lenses of f1.4 will be released within this year.

I'm planning to get this camera, probably the G2 once the movie mode is out:)
