hi k3vvie,

how do you get this effect? i been trying to select my forcus at corner but somehow it still forcus at the center of pic.

yup, same aperture mode all the way.... same as with my dslr... Don't usually bother with all the scene modes...

but sometimes when in super rush, i switch on Intelligent scene mode, which surprisingly churns out pretty good results. Especially useful when u ask someone take photo for u, and then they dunno how to focus and just press the shutter hard once. its pretty smart, was testing just now, correctly detects macro mode, night landscape, night portrait, landscapes mode etc.

another thing i set the function button to go to white balance, coz it is something else i quite often change, especially if im indoors.

scene mode can be better than manual sometimes, reason being they compiled settings for all sorts (e.g night portrait shots), then develop stats to see what's the best under such conditions.. that's why manual isn't always better than auto..haha.

hmm, seems like i'm on the right track with the rest of u guys here. at first when i was still fiddling around with the camera, i shot at f2.8, and wonder why are the indoor shots almost similar to my previous PNS.. in fact only the f2.0 makes all the difference (oh yes, iso noise is pretty good also! :) )

one question here - since this is my first time playing with RAWs, i finally can get to play with making HDRs. is it compulsory to use a tripod ( of cos auto bracketing )to take the shots? or just 90+% similar shots will produce the same results?

u switch the white balance regularly? that means u always bring a white card along izit? to me i think it's okay, since it still can be changed in PS.

same angle... manual focus... :sweatsm:

anyways if u do a focus on the object to make it clear... the behind will be blurred.

if your lens is pointing on the object but u increase the focus to infinity, the behind will be clear n object near will be blurred.

at least that's wad i did to get the above pics. oh forgot the mention. the camera case is placed quite near my lens also.

and of coz u must set your f-stop to f2.0, or the lower the number the better. try playing wif the focus. u can get alot of nice effects n pics out of it.

oh y a.. bad thing abt LX3 is that u cannot do a real bokeh wif a far object. try google it and u know y...

if anyone knows how, pls tell me. thanks :)

I tried in the middle of the night at 4plus doing the bokeh and reverse bokeh w manual focusing theory u taught me...previously w autofocus..this cant b achieved unless i do super close up macro mode. If u talking far away bokehs , I doubt LX3 can do it cos it doesnt have far zoom lens like DSLRs or some megazooms thus our distance is v limited

some pictures of a engaged couple to share during xmas, do forgive if I fare badly

yup.. can't be done coz of the limited zoom.
