Just curious, what mode and which lense you used for the shots?

My first night shoot using EOS M. I believe it can be better. Appreciate the experts can provide 1 advice or 2. ;)

Your photos are very nice but like many of us we can always improve including and especially myself.

Unfortunately there is no EXIF information with your photos but I think I can offer a couple of pointers:

I. Use Appropriate ISO Settings, a Tripod and a Remote Release:
The photos appear quite noisy which tells me that you were forced to use high ISO settings so that you could hand-hold your camera.
Night photography can produce super rich, extremely sharp and very pleasing photos. Be sure to use ISO 100, place your camera on a sturdy tripod and use a remote release. This method will produce far sharper photos with less noise. It will also help to increase colour saturation and make your photos more contrasty. Here's an example of a night photo which I took about 3 years ago with my old Canon EOS 50D (long since sold). I believe the lens I used was the Sigma 10-20. The photo has been cropped about 30%. It is by no means perfect and has a lot of room for improvement:

EXIF:
Camera: Canon 50D
Aperture: f/5.6
Exposure Time: 3.2 seconds
ISO: 100
Focal Length: 20mm
Tripod Used?: Most definitely
Remote Used?: Absolutely!

Here's a 100% crop of the same photo to show how much detail the camera can capture and how noise free a photo can be even if it's taken at night. Take a look at the detail that the old Canon 50D was able to capture in the Conrad building (lower left side):

II. Try to be creative. Think outside the box:
Take for instance your first photo which is very pleasing. I think I know what your were trying to go after and you almost got it but just a little more creative thought could have produced something even better.
I think that if you had taken the photo at a different angle it could have produced a 'story' or an element that is different than most of the ho-hum Singapore Flyer photos we see on the web. Try walking around the Flyer and see it at different angles. I find the buildings to the right and left of the Flyer very distracting in your photos but I think you were on to something when you included the building in the middle and tried to use the Flyer to frame it. By changing your angle and perhaps walking back just a little bit, the building in the middle could have been completely enclosed and framed within the flyer. This is called composition or composing your photo.

Here are a couple of examples of creative photos that I've taken of the flyer. Again they are not nearly perfect but they demonstrate things that can be done when we give thought to creativity and composition:

I hope this helps! One of the most enjoyable things about photography is learning to get better. I have learned so much from others and from this forum. Don't be afraid to experiment with your camera. Try 'Manual Mode' and play around with the settings (aperture, shutter speed, ISO settings, etc) until you see on your LCD exactly what your looking for. Read the manual that came with your camera then read it again! Read other books about photography. Keep it up the good work of learning and never be discouraged! Good luck!

Can I ask, how long do you have to wait after you take your first shot? To say, in between shot, before the camera is ready to take next pic again?

Hihi, i am not an expert.

Just a point to share. It will be much better to shoot during the magic hour, when the sky is still blue. Similar like the ones taken by raydio.

I have probably gotten the model number wrong, but it is on display at the back of Canon@Vivo showroom down the back
Model could/should be 650D or 700D... not too sure about the model number but the prices are almost identical to EOS M
Add a couple of hundred (200~300) and I can get bulky-but-professional looking ones.

Its the slow-shutter I am talking about, on the 22mm taking pictures (with the demo set), it took like 2~3 secs for it to
snap. on the 18~55mm it was pretty quick of less than a split second. I was just playing with it and since it is a demo
set, settings could have been changed. I didn't want to bother the staff as I wasn't ready to purchase at retail price

I love the size of the EOS M, shots taken (in this thread) looks really good.

Yes agree, its simply irresistible:heart:...be it in size:thumbsup:, weight:thumbsup: and they'd metal-mounts:thumbsup:

(...frankly, been missing something since selling off my previously owned G1X..., that I'd long awaited to purchase since its launched...!!)

Sharing a test shot of an EOS M + EF-M 11-22mm IS STM lens. I must say, I am pretty impressed with the output image of this combo.

Minor brightness and contrast adjustments in DPP (Digital Photo Professional).
Lens correction in Photoshop then sharpened for web presentation.

Do you use ef-s 10-22 before? How this ef-m compared to ef-s? Seem like this ef-m performs very well...

EFM lens are great for their build, IQ, price. But wait for the wide angle EF-M 11-22mm coming in next few months if u want wide. I didnt like the 10-22mm for its sunstar quality.

M is a great street/discreet/light weight camera, I'm cranking out better photos than my old 600D. Share with u with 85mm f1.8 attached

EF-M 11-22 already in local store...

Hi Guys,

Every time I took a group photo with M, it is not able to get a clear shot of all the faces. Any idea if this is normal or there is some setting that I can achieve to have a clear shot of all faces?

Another question is somehow the photos I took from M is not very clear even if I am using a tripod & remote click. Any idea if there is a standard setting on the camera itself that must comply to?

Thanks

Do u mean blurry shots or out of focus shots?

Yup, it's in store and gotten myself one this morning when the store opened...( this EF-M 11-22mmIS lens been about a week...yes, thereabout...) as I've been checking out closely cos my intention of building this Canon EOS-M system is mainly for my everyday-APS-C-digicam and travels...light-weight:thumbsup:, APS-C size sensor='Bokeh' still easily achieved:thumbsup:...as compared to smaller sensor cams with the :bigeyes:same focal-length being used...(...if not, I'd have gotten myself a Nikon 1:sticktong...!!!), rather nice EOS-M's body styling(...as mentioned before somewhere, if I recalled correctly...), good range of useful focal-range lenses eg. EF-M 11-22mm-IS-STM, EF-M 18-55mm-IS-STM and EF-M 22mm f/2.0 prime lens:heart:...!!!!!!!!

Ooh, yes, nearly forgotten the mini speedlite-90EX...!!!

Btw, no tele-zoom as yet but may or not...there's one in-the-make...who knows right...haha, anyway it's alright for me since I wanted this System with 'go Everywhere+Everyday-APS-C-digicam and go-Travels-in-Lightweight-&-Bokehlicious' cam in mind...hmm...Ho-Seh-Liao=Shiok-man...!!!!!!!!

Cheers to all EOS-M bros & sis...!!

Can share how much you got your efm 11-22? Limited stock?

Hi I meant blurry shot. Since the focus is always on a portion of the whole image.

The focus is always on one point in the frame regardless of camera brands. What's more important is the f stop used. As this will directly affect if you will see who is in focus and who's not.

Next, the blurry shot, if there's a point in the frame that is sharp and clear, then it's your f stop/aperture issue. Too wide and not enough dof.

Else it's handshake..use a. Faster shutter speed

It's much easier to tell if you can upload a picture...
