If not wrong, the picasa need additional steps to put the pic in... check other sub forum...

somebody know the latest price for this lens?

International price is US$570, which works out to be Singapore $826.00 . So anything more than that is very much overpriced (havent factor in postage). So maybe a reasonable range is about $840 - $850 if you pay for courier charges.

Juz got this lens this week and took it out for a test run.

i am in trouble.....have to get one, have to get one....*droolz* :D

I only managed to find this lens in the US for 599.90 which works out to about slightly less than 900.
I m not sure whether to buy in sg although slightly more expensive, but service centre probably easier to access if anything wrong. you guys think its worth the 50 bucks?

also how about getting it 2nd hand? after all the warranty is 2 years? so if get a 1 year old lens still have 1 year warranty?

Test a second hand before you buy one- especially if the price seems good. The earlier copies of the lens had a space missing on one of the elements which caused some focus issues. Tokina will fix that though. It is hard to find in general because it is so popular. On some things, warranty only applies to original buyer- not sure what Tokina's policy is on that. I think Nikon is that way.

How is the AF speed, especially in low light conditions?

Any front or back focusing issues with this UWA?

Would like to consult Tokina 116 owners, what CPL are you using for this lens and what's your feedback on IQ and vignetting? I'm considering the Kenko Pro1D CPL as a cheaper alternative to the similar/same Hoya Pro1D CPL (which I assume is a decent filter).

Also, I have a B+W F-Pro UV filter on. Can I stack a CPL on this, or would it definitely cause vignetting no matter how slim the CPL?

Thanks!

I also have a question for Tokina owners cos I'm considering this lens vs the Canon 10-22. One of the selling points is the aperture. Can anyone tell me what is the difference in shutter speed between f/2.8 and f/3.5?

CPL doesnt work well for this lens, the sky often comes out uneven. Go google to find out more abt this.

Hi redmonsoon, thanks for the advice. I've read about the unevenness of polarisation of sky that is captured by UWAs but I thought the CPL may still be useful for shooting greenery and water bodies. Perhaps even used as a mild ND?

Here's my share of 11mms

Not only it has DoF, I feel the nice thing about the lens is that it gives lots of depth.

Again, the depth feel is really nice to me, but the problem is actually getting the camera low enough (without hitting the mud) to get a even closer framing

For this shot, I added a gradient filter pp. wonder how the colors come out so wild. I kind of like it though.

For me, sometimes i just bring this 11-16 out as the only lens. Lots of fun to be have. Lots of exercises to do (run all over). I'm ready to lose a few photo ops to get used to the lens ;p

You need to get quite close to the subject for these shots. Better to use a telezoom for stealth purposes IMHO.
