Hi all,

First attempt to hotlink some photos taken over last weekend. All feedback welcomed. All photos have been been cropped with some PS adjustments on levels/colour. Camera: A70 internal strobe

Do you use strobes? Think they are a little overexposed, but it could be my monitor instead.

Nice composition. Can see you are trying the rule of the third. Remember to focus on the eyes, which is the soul of the picture.

No, just the internal flash set on lowest. Could it be I'm too close? I usually compensate -1/3 stop. Either that or more likely its my monitor. Its very old and probably lost its calibration or something. Thanks for the feedback and tips.

House reef P. Aur. I think it was an excellent macro weekend. Phyllidias and 'Blue Dragons' everywhere and I saw a few of the brown variants too. Saw a Cuthona sp. which I have a pic of but which was too small and over exposed. Plenty of flatworms in the last dive including one white one with yellow strip.

Hi eel, you might want to ask our current underwater photography centest winner rifraf.

When i was sharing shooting tips with him. He did convey to me that the pics are overexposed. Ultimately i shared with him that he might want to try shooting at about F8.0 or more with flash exposure compensation at it's lowest setting -2/3 if i am not wrong.

Why not pop him a PM and see what he says??

Hi chinaik, I used mostly 'cloudy WB' when in depths greater than 10m and 'Sunlight WB' in shallower waters. Using Aperture Priority set between F4 and F5.6. However as you can see from some of the comments, its a little overexposed so I'm gonna try doing what another CSer is recommending (excerpts of some pm shared with him):

For macro shots, flash is abit harsh so shots tend to overexpose. Tts why gotta reduce the flash and the aperture size.
I usually use manual mode and set the aperture small, from 6.3 to 8. I choose center-weighted averaging with subject in the middle.
The flash normally i set to the lowest at 1/3, but if abit underexposed, offset by increasing the aperture. i usually set to 1/125 for day shots and 1/250 for nightshots.
Actually i dun see much difference with shutter speed unless u r taking sunbursts and all
