Basic Studio Lighting (Feb Intake)
Now that you have mastered the basics of photography, how about learning how to make light work in your photographs?
This workshop will engage students in the basics of studio photography, including how to use strobes, light-shaping tools and theories behind lighting. At the end of the course, students will apply what they have learned onto an actual model shoot with guidance from the instructor. This will be followed by a critique session at the end of class. Students will also get advice on how to invest in a proper set of lighting equipment that suits your budget.
Class size will be limited to eight per intake to ensure they get maximum attention from the instructor.
Course overview
Session One
Introduction to lighting equipment (Strobes, light meter and triggers etc)
Working with the numbers (light ratio, f-stop, sync speed etc)
Learning how to apply all these together into a shoot
Session Two
Learning how to operate your flash gun
Introduction to various lighting techniques
Working with light-shaping tools
Guest lecture by professional photographer (TBC)
Demonstration on a model
Session Three
Model shoot with tips and guidance from instructor
Session Four
Participants to review and critique images from previous week

Venue: 20A Smith Street (2 mins walk from Chinatown MRT station)
Requirements
Students must have their own DSLR or compact camera with hotshoe mount
