PetaPixel Photojournalist Controversially Turns to AI to Illustrate ‘Inaccessible’ Stories

I think the article is interesting and raises some important questions about the ethics of using AI in photojournalism.

On the one hand, I can see the appeal of using AI to create images that would be impossible to capture with traditional photography. For example, the AI-generated images in the article depict scenes that are dangerous or difficult to access, such as the perilous journey that some Cubans attempt to cross the 90 miles of ocean that separate Havana from Florida. These images could help to raise awareness of these issues and give people a new perspective on them.
