Hi guys
I'll be going kao xiong n Taipei in march
Is it cheaper to get photography stuff in Taiwan?

If yes any particular stuff or shop??

Hoping to get some filters and stuff if price is good I'm considering lens also :)

Please advise :)

Remember someone posted before, you want to do a search.

There is a street near Taipei Main train station call Bo Ai Road within ten minutes of walking. Lots of camera shops there in the day.

Prices are quite similar with Singapore.

Google this address "BóÀi Rd, Jhongjheng District, Taipei City, Taiwan 100 ".

Hi, just came back from Taipei. I went to Kaifeng Street, its in between Ximen Station and Taipei Main Station. Roughly 100+ camera shops there. I personally find its not bad to buy photography books there, but filter, lens and body wise I was not too sure about the pricing. Also do take note to converse in Mandarin, if you can speak of the technicalities in Mandarin. Remember to ask for 'shui huo' - 3rd party accessories, else they will give you the original.

No point buying there about the same price as Singapore. Malaysia n HK will be better choice.

In Taiwan now, just want to share my experiences of buying at boai road

Personally think good bargains to be found here, but have to do research to make sure u don't get tok (overcharged)

First big ticket item:
tokina 11-16 f2.8
Couldn't find 'water goods' (Sui huo) which is grey market goods cause u won't need the warranty in Singapore. However the shop I web to changed it to international warranty for me so do try to ask. Do ask for tax rebate too (only some shops have as the government has strict regulations on which shops can tax rebate) will save u 5%
Price here: NT 18300 which works out to about 813 SGD before tax rebate.

The area is similar to sim lim square, credit card will charge u extra. In this case 2%

Checked out Nikon 50 1.8 too. Equivalent of sgd 160

Lens pens here very cheap. Nt 200 which is about 9 sgd

Giottos rocket blower also, not the big one though. Got it for nt 180 (most shops sell nt 200)

INSTAX films big bargain, pack of 20 for sgd 16

Sandisk extreme pro sdhc 32gb for 160sgd equivalent
Bought the 45mb/s version for 120sgd

Hoya hd filter 77mm was 1800nt if I rmbr correctly which is equivalent of about 78sgd

These are all those that I find good price, just to add on information on this area in taiwan. Cheers! :)
