Hi guys,
Have something to poke your brains about and to gauge interest.
Co-working spaces are becoming very popular around the world. Lots of spaces dedicated to tech and media startups. However, there are no co-working spaces that cater to emerging Photographers and Videographers/Directors. A professional working space with full-time desks and a mid-size decent studio attached to it.
Based on everyone’s experience, is there a need / want for a such a space in Singapore? A space for emerging photographers / videographers / directors who are slowly stepping into being a professional. Someone one who can’t justify the cost of an entire office and studio but understands the need for having a professional space to meet potential clients. A space for proper meetings instead of the neighborhood Starbucks?
I’m toying with the idea of kickstarting something like this in Singapore. To foster a small community of creative visual artists and to provide them with a space to grow and to execute their work. Potentially starting with 3 options. These rates are researched industry rates for the other co-work offices and mid range studios.
1. A day-desk for photographers who need a space to work on an ad-hoc basis (maybe something around $50-60 a day)
2. A monthly work desk for photographers who need a space outside of their homes. Somewhere to meet clients. (Something around $600 - $1000 per month. Depending on studio usage)
3. A day-studio rental for ad-hoc photographers ($45-60 / Hour).
(Nothing is locked down or confirmed or started at this stage).
I'm potentially thinking of getting more established photographers as mentors as well. To help guide the emerging photographers in terms of portfolio and business skills. (Haven’t put much thought into pricing yet, but trying to determine if local emerging photographers would even be open enough for the guidance?)
Let me know what you guys think? Very interested to hear some feedback.
Thanks everyone!
Kevin
